Coneheads or molding: Is a common consequence of delivery producing a lopsided or flattened skull and will even out over the first few weeks of life. A cephalohematoma is a bruise that forms during delivery and appears to be a puddle of fluid under the scalp but above the skull. This will resolve on its own as well but sometimes leads to some jaundice. You should bring this up at the baby's 7 day exam for evaluation.

See a TMJ dentist: Possible displacement of the disk can cause harm to the joint. A TMJ work -up maybe recommended. The sooner the treatment, the better to prevent further damage.

Why does swollen turbinates cause pressure in head?

Why does swollen turbinates cause pressure in head?

Increase of pressure: Swollen turbinates can limit the flow of air/fluids in your maxillary sinus which can lead to an increase of sinus pressure. If your sinuses cannot drain properly then you will likely feel the effect that you are asking about. If you think that you may be developing a sinus infection see your doctor for verification and treatment.

At times the back of my neck feels swollen ans it's uncomfortable to bend my head the whole way back...what would cause this?

Swelling in the neck: You could have aisle spasm in the back in the muscles or you could have some lymph nodes there. If it is lymph nodes you could feel them and there would be likely more than one. The muscle pain and spasm is most likely. Take Motrin or Tylenol (acetaminophen) and use cold and warm compresses for 20 mins a piece. With a 20 min break every hour and the pain should go away. Good luck, feel better'

Fever: Fever and red cheeks make me immediately think of fifths disease - also known as "slapped cheeks disease". It is caused by a virus called parvovirus b19 and is a very common childhood illness. It is usually harmless and does not require treatment unless the child also has a chronic disease that can predispose them to anemia such as sickle cell anemia. It can also be a concern if a pregnant woman has been exposed to someone with fifths disease. Below I've linked to website with more in-depth information on fifths disease. In the meantime, it's important to keep your child comfortable and watch for signs of a more serious infection. "red flags" that we look for with fever to indicate something more serious is going on are: -fevers that last 5 days or more -fevers persistently above 104f orally -a child that acts very sick - very irritable or difficult to wake -difficulty breathing -vomiting, diarrhea, refusal to drink, or dehydration -a purple rash, esp on the legs (a red lacy rash on the body is common with fifths disease) -stiff neck -any complaints of pain such as the ear, throat, stomach or a joint as always, use your judgement. If you think that your child is ill, err on the side of caution and call your child's doctor.

Swollen tastebuds on tongue, I have a head cold and sever sinusitis... can that cause it??? I'm worried

Viral infection: Various upper respiratory viruses typically cause swollen and painful tastbuds. The fact that you have congestion and sinusitis strongly suggests an upper respiratory viral infection that should resolve itself. If these symptoms continue for more than 2 weeks, your doctor might want to give you a trial of antibiotics in case a secondary bacterial infection is present. If not helpful, imaging

Can swollen turbinates cause head pressure and tightness?

Can swollen turbinates cause head pressure and tightness?

Swollen Turbinates: Hello. Yes, swollen turbinates can cause head pressure and tightness. The link would be nasal and thus sinus function. When the nasal passages are blocked by swollen turbinates, the ability for the nose to warm, clean and humidify the air we breathe reduces and we then have a higher risk for infection. A sinus infection commonly has symptoms of head pressure and tightness. Consider afrin x 5 days

Why does swollen turbinates cause head pressure & tightness in the head?

Why does swollen turbinates cause head pressure & tightness in the head?

Sinus congestion?: The swelling undoubtedly involves all the linings of the nasal cavity, including sinuses, not only the turbinates. It's just that the turbinates are easy for the doctor to observe. Your "head pressure & tightness" probably are due to general congestion including sinuses. Try a decongestant spray like Afrin®, then discuss with your doctor if it doesn't help.

What would cause the gland in my head near ear to be swolen? Feeling fine and no other glands swollen

What would cause the gland in my head near ear to be swolen? Feeling fine and no other glands swollen

It depnds on its siz: You should monitor the size of your lymph gland. If it is less than 1.5 cm, it may not be anything to worry about. But if it is getting bigger and gets to be 2 cm or larger, then you should consult your doctor, as a biopsy may be desirable to find the cause. Nothing immediately to worry about, but check if it is growing over the next 1-2 months or not..

Get attention: Good idea to visit your doctor, as you could have fractured a bone in the orbit which is affecting visual synchrony. An eye specialist may be needed, and X-rays seem indicated.

What is the cause of a swollen lymph node under my chin? It is not painful, however, sometimes it gets aggravated by swallowing. Is this worrisome?

What is the cause of a swollen lymph node under my chin? It is not painful, however, sometimes it gets aggravated by swallowing. Is this worrisome?

Probably not: Lymph nodes enlarge in response to inflammation since they are designed to help fight this. The oral cavity is a major source of minor inflammation/infection and a swollen lymph node is not surprising. If it remains small, is soft and non-tender, and you have no other symptoms it should resolve. If not, have it seen by your family doctor or an ent.
