Swollen Bicep Muscle
My upper arm muscle or bicep is swollen and kind of hard. Does not hurt. Is it dangerous or something to worry about?
Rupture muscle: Biceps tendon tears can be either partial or complete. A complete tear of the long head at its attachment point in the glenoid. Partial tears. Many tears do not completely sever the tendon. Complete tears. A complete tear will split the tendon into two pieces.
It is a body tissue that has the ability to contract. It shortens and generates force. It relaxes and returns to its original length. Muscles move joints, stabilize the body, move air and food through the organs, act as valves for bladder, bowel and other organs. They control movement of the eyes. They help us express ourselves by changing the shape of our ...Read more
Torn or pulled muscle/tenon? Both arms won't straighten, inner elbows and biceps hurt, swollen arms and pain. Should I visit my doctor or rest at home?
Visit your doctor: Pain, swelling, limited movement are all signs and symptoms that merit an evaluation by a physician.
Work those muscles: Work your biceps w/ curls (free wt. Or machine); make sure not to use your back muscles when doing curls. Chest: bench, incline bench, flys, push-ups. Etc. If you join a gym get a trainer to show u proper technique. Start slowly and gradually build up work out intensity
Possibly: It's relatively rare to "pull" the biceps muscle. Strains or tears of the biceps tendons are more likely. The biceps tendons may be injured near the shoulder or near the attachment just past the elbow. The distal tendon injury (past the elbow) often needs urgent evaluation with an orthopedic specialist because surgery is often required to restore adequate strength with turning the forearm.
Yes: Muscle swelling is visible on ultrasound by virtue of relative enlargement and diminished echogenicity (brightness) if there is associated edema.
It is best: It is best to be properly evaluated by a doctor in person. Swollen muscles can be indicative of many different health maladies. Does your mother have any other symptoms? Sometimes a massage with a warm, wet towel will alleviate pain associated with sore muscles.
How long should I give my muscles to rest after a workout? For example, working out biceps. Thank you
Two to three days: Two to three days would probably be adequate unless you're doing high-intensity training. Then maybe 5-6 days for the muscles to repair.

Hi I really need to build really big natural muscle (abs, biceps, back...)with home exercising not in the gym. What should I do and how should I exercise?
Home gym exercise: There are lots of great programs out there to build muscle outside of a gym. Believe it or not yoga is great at doing just that. Outside of that one of the best programs I have found that does what you ask is p90x. It works but you have to follow the program and depending how well you follow the diet you will be remarkably surprised in 90 days.
Several reasons: There are several reasons why this can happen. The most important is do you have a pinched nerve in your neck. If the nerve is pinched it cannot send signals to the muscle and it will not increase in strength. If you are having neck pain or shooting pains in that arm you should see a doctor and have this checked.
Yes: Injury to any soft tissue including muscle can lead to pressure on surrounding nerves.See 1 more doctor answer
What can cause a muscle to become swollen and stay in a contracted state for months? No trauma to area.
Swollen muscle.: You need to see a physician who can examine you. A diagnosis cannot be given in your case, without an examination.
There's a little hole like a dent on my ight bicep. It came recently and I haven't worked out in a while, Is my muscle deflating?
Not deflating...: There is no "stored air" in the muscle to either inflate or deflate. You may have had a partial tear of the muscle belly at that point. See a doctor if you are concerned or if it is painful.
The LHS of my neck has a swollen vertical muscle (?) which is about 3 or 4 or 5 CM thick! Its not painful but I worry about it (I'm 79!)
Thick neck: Seek medical attention this week May be an enlarged lymph node underneath from lung, or swollen thyroid. Ff it is not pulsating less likely to be and aneurysm of the carotid. But seek attention this week.
