Hi! My daughter (8 yrs) just woke up complaining of pain in both armpits. I immediately think of swollen lymph glands. Any ideas?
Agree with you: I think you may be right on track! Many viral infections, especially, can cause lymph nodes to swell, and the armpit nodes are commonly painful. I would check to see if she has a fever at all, and look for any other signs of viral infection (sudden fatigue, sinus drainage, runny nose, dark circles under eyes, etc.). Also gently check the neck for large nodes. Fluids, vitamin C, l-lysine, and REST. ...Read more

I have a swollen gland in my armpit. I am constantly touching it. Now it is sore. Can a gland get sore and more swollen by constantly touching it?
I've found a small pea sized lump under my left armpit, that is painless and is moveable. Also my glands are also always swollen like big hard lumps.
Seen a Doctor lately: If your lymph glands are enlarged and growing bigger, you need to have them checked by your physician. Lymph nodes do not enlarge unless you have either Infection or Cancer in the lymph glands. So go seek medical evaluation and a physical examination by a doctor, soon. ...Read more

What is the difference between a suspicious mass in the armpit and a swollen/clogged sweat gland?
Exam: Good question! often it is difficult for a patient to know the difference between a suspicious mass in the axilla (armpit) and an obstructed or infected sweat gland or hair follicle. If it is red or has a discharge suspect infection and use warm compresses and antibiotics. If it is hard and non-tender it could be serious. See your doctor for an exam. ...Read more

I have been waking up for the past month feeling off, keep getting re-occuring swollen glands in my armpits and mild headaches, what could this be?
Virus? Mono?: Lymph nodes ("glands") cannot come and go so often. Once actually swelling occurs, it will always last at least 1-2 weeks. So it is unlikely that explains your feeling "recurring" glands over a month. However, your symptoms could reflect some sort of viral infection like mononucleosis (glandular fever), or any number of other conditions. See your GP if your symptoms continue. ...Read more
Infection: This suggests infection - either localized "boils" in the underarms from shaving and/or ingrown hairs; or a symptom of a larger, systemic infection somewhere in the shoulder/breast region, or a generalized infection. Rash on my upper thighs and armpit which turn black, fever and swollen gland under chin what could it be?
Separate problems. : The rash on the intertriginous areas are due to irritation and rubbing depending on your size and condition such as diabetes and sweating which can cause fungal infection. Nodes depend on the drainage system of lymph vessels and what you feel has to be above it to drain there. Look for possible infection from above such as pharyngitis or facial infection, even acne. ...Read more
I exclusively pump milk for son. i noticed a gland under my armpit No lump jus feels like a rolling vein or something. Is it a lymph node swollen?
Could be?: It is possible and could be a location for a lymph node. Without a physical exam it's hard for me to say exactly what it is. So glad you are getting that good breast milk for your baby! My other questions would be... Is the lump sore or tender? Is there any redness overlying? Does it move with your finger? Or does it seem to be " fixed" Do you have a family history of breast cancer? ...Read moreSee 3 more doctor answers
