Swollen Area Right Above Knee
Left calve is a bit swollen, below the knee and above the ankle, was also having what appeared to be swollen area on the knee, felt puffy which seems to have receded a bit and feels like a knot. Just curious what this could be.
Doctor can examine: A person whose leg or legs swell up, but has no prior reason for doing so (meaning he doesn't already have a known liver, kidney, heart, or circulation problem that leads to swelling) should be evaluated in the E.R. Treatment depends on the amount of swelling, how fast it is increasing, and the actual cause swelling. New swelling in only one leg may mean a blood clot in that leg (very serious). ...Read more

Hey I have two areas on both knees that are swollen and bruised, both the same in width, I was kind of worried why they would appear, should I be worr?
It is a little odd..: I presume it is one area on each knee (?), but maybe two on each. In any event, one would first expect some sort of symmetrical trauma (falling on both knees going down at the same time) to account for this. I presume you don't recall this. The most worrisome thing would be a previously undiagnosed bleeding disorder. I think OK to just watch for now, but if more areas develop, needs evaluation. ...Read more

Woke up 2 days ago with itchy areas (feet, knees, back) and my fingers are swollen so much that I can't completely close my fists.
Itching/swelling: This sounds like something you have been in contact with or less likely something you ingested. You can take antihistamines to help and see your doctor who may be able to help with a more exact diagnosis and treatment. But it does sound like an exposure to an allergen. No new medications? All the best. ...Read more

Skin infection: The signs of redness and swelling with pus are indicative of infection. It would be important to get proper treatment for that -so you should show it to a doctor or take photos and ask a Health Tap doc. If it is extensive, you might need antibiotics. It would be important to determine if any other structures are involved like the bursa over the knee area. Local therapy such as bacitracin may help. ...Read more
