Does anyone else in your family have this, do you stand on your feet a lot, does it get better when your legs are elevated or worse as the day progresses? Look up the terms venous insufficiency or venous stasis. Stop the water pills, stop the antibiotics, and get into a good pair of 20-30mmhg compression stockings and wear them when you are up. ...Read more

Right leg pain: Swollen ankles can be a manifestation of congestive heart failure, dependent edema, liver problems, anemia, varicose veins etc. Right leg pain is worrisome, it may suggest blood clots, phlebitis, cellulitis, vascular disease, etc. Immediate evaluation by her primary physician is recommended, she may need a doppler studies of her legs/vascular surgery evaluation if necessary. ...Read more

The: The good news is that your heart is not failing, which would have been detected on the ultrasound of your heart. When this occurs your heart does does pump blood effectively which ultimately results in fluid accumulation in your lower extremities.
As far as why you have swollen ankles/legs its hard to say. You may need to decrease your salt intake. Also if you have any pain, redness, or tenderness in your leg (s) then your doctor may need to do an ultrasound of your lower extremities in order to rule out blood clots.
I suggest you schedule a follow up visit with your doctor in order to investigate this problem further.

Decrease salt intake: This may be due to fluid and salt intake...Both of which you have the ability to directly modify. Sounds like you have a touch of congestive heart failure as well.
