I got a sore throat from my Mom being sick and then shortly afterwards, I went to the Dentist for the second filling in this month. I then have had swollen gums and a sore tongue, as if I have bitten it multiple times.

Sore throat: Unfair to both you and the dentist to subject him/her to your throat infection. Next time consider rescheduling elective procedures until you feel better.
