Swollen And Painful Lymph Nodes In Groin
Swollen and painful lymph node in groin. Also thigh pain on same side, pain started after possibly pulling a muscle. Are the two related to injury?
Groin/thigh pain: Usually a pulled muscle does not cause lymph node swelling. Lymph nodes usually swell in infection rarely in tumor. Groin LN usually drain the leg/ vaginal/vulva area. Also consider possible clot/hematoma( bleeding into soft tissue from trauma) if thigh pain ( though clots usually don't cause LN swelling). Would seek medical attention today, one can get an infection rather easily and quickly ...Read more

Swollen & painful lymph node in right groin area between pelvis and right thigh. Had it for ages but recently enlarged after vaccinations. What is it?
Regional adenopathy: For a young man with a history of STI I will rather investigate the possibility of another STI as the nodes in this region are commonly affected with such infections. Assessment of infection in the lower extremities and other more serious pathologies should be screened out. I will like to recommend a consult with Infectious Dse. MD in the network for continued evaluation. Take care. ...Read more

My 6 1/2 week grandson has a painful swollen lymph node in his groin... in hospital doctors can not figure out what is causing this?
Poor thing!: Tina, I'm sorry your grandson is in pain; There are many possible causes of a mass in the "inguinal area." Hernia, hydrocele, lymph node inflammation, and undescended testicle being the most common. If not already done, I would ask for an ultrasound. Watch for fever, as any fever over 100.4 rectal can be a sign of a spreading infection in a 6 wk old child. Hope ur grandson feels better soon ...Read more

What do you suggest if my little boy (3) has had a swollen lymph nodes in groin and neck for months but bloods all normal?
2 options: If he is seemingly healthy, active, appetite good and no other symptoms, I would recommend watchful waiting. If any concurrent symptoms, he just isn't himself, poor growth or weight loss, fevers, then I would suggest a biopsy of one of the nodes. Make sure he has also had a TB test done as well. Also, if you have a cat, have him checked for cat-scratch disease (blood test). ...Read more
