Switching From Lithium To Lithium Er
If you take lithium in the morning can you switch it up to night for one time to get an accurate 12 hr blood draw the next day?
Chemically, lithium is a light, soft, alkali metal. It's very highly reactive, so that in nature it's only found in compound form. It's useful in batteries. As a medication, Lithium Carbonate and citrate can be used to stabilize mood in people with bipolar disorder. In these people it can help with both mania and depression. What can I expect switching from bystolic (nebivolol) 5 mg to propranolol ER 60 mg? How long before I get adjusted?
Depends: Everyone responds differently to medications. The bystolic (nebivolol) is a b1 selective drug. This limits side effects. The propranolol is a non selective beta blocker. This may be better at lowering blood pressure but may have more side effects. Depends on the patient and different responses to medications, the reason for the switch, the insurance coverage etc. ...Read more
Depends: What do you mean by this? If you are having symptoms that are consistent with lithium toxicity then it is very important to do 2 things: hydrate well (i.e. Drink plenty of water) and go to either an er or urgent care center. If you just think you took too many pills by accident but have not symptoms of toxicity, you should be ok but need to check your levels soon and talk to your doctor soon too. ...Read more
I just saw my med doctor and she mentioned switching me from IR Xanax (alprazolam) to ER Xanax (alprazolam), what would be the difference?
Convenience: The ER form has a longer duration of action, so, you take it less often. Also, prolongation of action can eventuate in more consistent serum levels, so ups and downs of activity are blunted, and you get a smoother end result, with potentially less side effects. ...Read more
Docs are switching me from toprol (metoprolol) XL 12.5 to propranolol ER 60mgs and I'm worried my BP and pulse will drop to low? Mission is to help w anxiety.
Probably Fine: If you are basically healthy (no heart or lung problems) this should be fine, however I am a bit curious about the choice of treatment. Have you had a diagnostic evaluation of your anxiety? Beta blockers help with the physical symptoms of anxiety but may not help the cognitive (worried thoughts) symptoms. ...Read more

I take lithium carbonate ER 3x a day. I also take tramadol 2 tabs 2x a day. I never had any reaction with the two meds, this ok combo??
There is an: Increased risk of convulsive seizures with doubling up on the 50 mg Tramadol. Lithium does not have the anti-convulsive properties of Depakote, Lamictal or Tegretol which are also used as mood stabilizers. So the combination of Tramadol pill with another tramadol pill carries substantial risk. Plus Tramadol is very addicting. ...Read more

What is the equivalent amt of morphime one would need to take day if they r switching from 120mg methadone daily?
It varies by person: Equvalencies when switching from Methadone are tricky. At low doses it is 3:1 so 120 would equal 360. At higher doses of Methadone and with more chronic use- some say that the equivalence can be as much as 10:1 (1200mg) however, there is no such thing as perfect cross tolerance and a starting dose of another opioid should be less than half the equivalent dose followed by quick adjustments. ...Read more
