Medlineplus site has warning: spironolactone has caused tumors in laboratory animals. How safe is it. Also can you use with bb bystolic (nebivolol) &benicar/hct?

Very safe: Spironolactone has been in use for decades, so I would not worry about the animal data. The drug is safe in people and that is all that matters. You can use it in any fashion as per your doctor recommendations. ...Read more

Can using 0.3ml lidocaine with 1:100, 000 epinephrine during dental work interacts with bystolic, (nebivolol) benicar/hct or isosorbide mononitrate medicine.?

Probably not: Although Lidocaine is a vasodilator, there is no clinical evidence of any drug interactions or special precautions needed. However, if during the injection, some of the anesthetic were to be introduced directly into a blood vessel, the Epinephrine could cause a minor and short acting increase in heart rate. ...Read more

Any hypertensive meds that don't cause hair loss? Vasotec, lebatalol, diovan, bystolic (nebivolol) work but cause hair loss. Benicar doesn't reduce dystolic #.

Any hypertensive meds that don't cause hair loss? Vasotec, lebatalol, diovan, bystolic (nebivolol) work but cause hair loss. Benicar doesn't reduce dystolic #.

Unusual side effect: I have treated pts for forty years, and I can't remember that complained of hair loss after starting any of these agents. That does not mean it never happens (one lesson I've learned in medicine is never say never). Every drug has a huge list of adverse effects because each one a pt complains of in a study gets listed. Vasotec is an ace, Diovan (valsartan) & Benicar r arb's, same effects. Hair loss unlikely. ...Read more

I now taking linisopril switching from Benicar (olmesartan). My BP is 156/94 first few readings but goes down to 130/80 after taking it ten times do I need to swit?

Hypertension?: You need to ask your physician (p) why the change was made and get the p's insight of how well your BP is controlled. You also do not mention the dose of Benicar (olmesartan) that you were on nor the dose of Lisinopril you are currently taking. Perhaps, an increased dose of Lisinopril is what you need to be a BP systolic target of less than 140 mm. ...Read more

What can I expect switching from bystolic (nebivolol) 5 mg to propranolol ER 60 mg? How long before I get adjusted?

Depends: Everyone responds differently to medications. The bystolic (nebivolol) is a b1 selective drug. This limits side effects. The propranolol is a non selective beta blocker. This may be better at lowering blood pressure but may have more side effects. Depends on the patient and different responses to medications, the reason for the switch, the insurance coverage etc. ...Read more

Depending on their availability in our market (vietnam), can I switch from Diovan (valsartan) to Benicar and vice versa without any problem, since both are arbs?

Yes, but watch BP: Benicar (olmesartan) might give you a better BP control and depends on dosing. You have to watch out for your BP control and advoid switching to and fro if you can prevent. You have to also know the dose equivalent which your pharmacist can assist you with that. ...Read more

Second ingredient.: Benicar (olmesartan)-HCT has a second ingredient, Hydrochlorothiazide, added to the Benicar (olmesartan). Combination BP medications like this are generally more potent than single agents. The HCT part is a mild diuretic, too, so electrolytes need to be monitored. ...Read more

Can you switch form none selective bb (propranolol ER 80 mg capsule) to selective beta blocker such as bystolic (nebivolol) 5 mg or bisobrolol with no wean off?

Can you switch form none selective bb (propranolol ER 80 mg capsule) to selective beta blocker such as bystolic (nebivolol) 5 mg or bisobrolol with no wean off?

Usually Yes.: Your dose of Propranolol er 80 mg daily is high so you will need bystolic (nebivolol) 10 mg at least to begin with and may even need higher. Switch cane be made without weaning although there will be some initial withdrawal such as palpiatations or rise in pulse rate and BP but should not last longer. ...Read more

I about to go back to on benicar (olmesartan) 20 mg bec it only bp Med with no side effect. Is it safe despite all this on tv about Stomach problems? Stomach fine

Benicar (olmesartan): Every medicine has side effects but not every individual gets the effects. The studies are done just to determine what is possible, so in general there should be no surprises when you take the medicine. If the medicine works for you with no side effects do not worry and take it. The consequences of hypertension are significant. F/u/ w/ doc ...Read more
