Simple Care: Sunburn is response of the tissues to injury from solar radiation. It is simply inflammation which means increase blood flow to the area to promote healing. Do not use ice as this can injure already injured skin. Cool water soaks can help as can taking anti-inflammation medicines like Motrin or advil (ibuprofen). Allergic reaction?: Your description sounds like an allergic reaction but without looking at it there is no way to be sure. I would avoid makeup/lotions/anything you are applying to skin or eyes. I would also try to think of anything you may have change recently (soaps/detergents/etc). Could be: A. Side affect of the steroids, Prednisone does cause elevated intraocular pressure in some people. These people we call steroid responders and should be taken off Prednisone and the pressure of the eyes generally returns to normal. Wait a bit: Keep ice on it frequently and add Zantac (ranitidine) 150 mg twice a day for couple days. Although usually for reflux, it also blocks histamine and can help remediate this swelling. Steroids are powerful meds and should be used with care. Be well! ...Read more
