Different imaging: The type of physical finding is often times better visualized with CT or MRI. There are many structures in this area that can be a cause for this swelling. Especially lymph nodes. Movement: Clavicle fractures will feel better with shoulder retraction, rest and ice untill they heal enough to be more stable. Motion will cause the bones to move and thus more inflammation. I suggest ice a few times a day, work on keeping the shoulders pulled back and not trying to do too much. Sometime these fractures require surgery to stabilize. Do you lift weights?: If you lift weights (benchpress), that might be the culprit. The muscles and ligaments that attach to the collarbone are shown in the diagram. If your pain is at one of these places, you likely have a strain from lifting. If you've fallen on your outstretched arm, the same thing can happen.
