Possibly busitis: You don't mention where the hip swelling is, putting together it is a mildly tender swelling, you sleep on a hard mattress on your side, it is likely you have a trochanteric bursitis. This can be confirmed by having your PCP examine you and test you as needed. ...Read more

Hip dysplasia means: A lot of things. Your should get an orthopedic surgeon who specializes in this. Often at a pediatric hospital the ortho surgeons are very familiar with hip dysplasias. Call and ask. And have your records inclduing your xrays and MRI and ct studies and arthrograms transferred to your new doctor. You new doctor if he or she does not take care of these commonly may not understand how to help. ...Read more
