Sciatica: Pain in the distribution as you suggested describes the pattern of the nerve that travels in the leg called the sciatic nerve. Have a calf tear from a week ago. using a KneeRover. Can't walk and calf is still incredibly tender. Swelling has mostly subsided. I noticed ankle is now swelling since I been on feet all day. No other addt'l symptoms. Go to doc or stay off feet?

Achilles tear?: With a calf injury as you describe, worry about exact location. Higher up on leg suggests likely muscle injury and resulting hematoma. Mid-leg or distal pain in lower third of leg may suggest muscle-tendon or Achille's tendon injury that would warrant thorough evaluation by health care provider experienced in evaluating calf injuries. ...Read more

R/O CELLULITIS: Cellulitis is a superficial skin infection that can be caused after an abrasion . Or after a heroes flare. Keep the area clean and apply topical antibiotics. Seek prompt evaluation for potential need of oral antibiotics/X-ray /labs. F/U with the doctor who diagnosed the herpes. Continue anti viral Meds ie Valtrex (valacyclovir) or famvir. ...Read more
