Cyst: There are many things that cause swellings but at the wrist, it would be most common to have a ganglionic cyst. Other possibilities are traumatic cyst, lymph node, etc. The only way to know for sure what it is is for you to have it examined and perhaps a test called MRI or ultrasound to image the lesion. Arthritis: Hi, your symptoms could be arthritis. The most common form is osteoarthritis, another common form is rheumatoid arthritis. Swelling and pain in the same joints on both hands is consistent with RA but the only way to be sure is to see your doctor for an exam and tests.
