Rule out Gout: You will need to rule out the possibility of gouty arthritis - it typically appears suddenly in a big toe (classic presentation), although it is usually accompanied by some form of swelling, redness or other discoloration.

Pain and swelling on ball of foot under big toe in diabetic?

Pain and swelling on ball of foot under big toe in diabetic?

Any diabetic with: Foot pain warrants a in person exam as there is little room for misdiagnosis. You could have sesamoiditis, a stress fracture, tendonitis etc. Any possibility of a charcot foot must be considered. You make no mention of skin integrity and this must be examined as well. If you have neuropathy a foreign body should be ruled out.

U need to see your -: Surgeon to be examined, as I cannot think of any other possibility except an attack of gout or pseudogout. Have your uric acid checked, and good luck.

Ball of foot swollen and tender between 3 & 4th toe. Slightly hard there. Tender to touch and walk on. Gradual onset of pain/swelling overnight.

Neuroma: The location and your symptoms alone are consistent with the Morton's neuroma. Look it up on the Internet. See your local area podiatrist for options. This is a very common nerve entrapment associated with fibrosis. Immediate relief will be with a cortisone injection. The sooner you do this, the more likely you are to respond.

Would recommend: Getting this checked at her doctor or the ER or an orthopedist. Sounds like it could be an infection; her doctor should be able to examine her and help her.

Went to ER for swelling in ball of foot after day of pain walking, diagnosed plantar fascia. No heel pain though- is this possible or something else?

Plantar fascitiis: Does not have to cause pain in the heel it can be anywhere along the length of the fascial tissue. Other possibilities could include a plantar plate tear or stress fracture if the pain was more in the metatarsal region. Follow up with a. Foot doctor if the pain persists.

There is a swelling on both of my insteps, the right a little more than the left. And a pining in my toes, sometimes the center toe. Foot feel plump.?

See a podiatrist: You have a problem and an in person exam can pin point it. A differential diagnosis could include, neuroma, plantar plate tear. Those would be my first two thoughts mainly cause the condition is bilateral. So, a stress fracture or the likes would be less likely.

Many possibilities: Depending on what you describe as a neuropathy, it could be a number of different things. See you doctor to determine whether this can be assessed with a thorough history and physical examination, and whether there is a need for further either electrodiagnostic or radiographic testing.

Is it normal to have pain in a band on top of foot just below toes and numbness, swelling in two little toes after sprained ankle?

Is it normal to have pain in a band on top of foot just below toes and numbness, swelling in two little toes after sprained ankle?

YES: Depending upon the severity of the sprain, swelling can extend to the foot. My question to you-without seeing a doctor, how can you be sure it's "just a sprain." Most ankle sprains, I think, are undertreated resulting in lingering problems.

Rest and ice: You may have other pathology underneath your 1st great toe joint such as sesamoiditis, bursitis, etc. Try resting and stop activities for 1-2 weeks with icing and antiinflammatory medications. If pain continues or returns, see a specialist, you may need xrays with an evaluation. Hope this helps, if you need a referral in your area, I know some good doctors. Best of luck.
