Swelling After Vaser Lipo
First 24-48 hrs: Vaser liposuction uses ultrasound energy to help facilitate traditional liposuction. With any kind of liposuction there will be some postoperative swelling. Most of it goes away in the first month. Then it may take another five months for the rest of the swelling to go away completely. I usually tell patients they can stand in front of the mirror and see final results at about six months. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

Is recovery after vaser liposuction faster than traditional lipo? I've read that vaser liposuction causes less damage then traditional lipo. Does that mean recovery will be faster?
It depends: Vaser liposuction provides ultrasound energy to help break up the fat thereby allowing smaller cannulas and less physical trauma. This should equate in less recovery. However, each person tolerates any liposuction differently and i feel the surgeons technique and expertise is a more reliable predictor of post-op pain and recovery than the technology used. ...Read moreSee 4 more doctor answers
Liposuction question is the removal of belly fat by liposuction ever done under local anesthetics?
Liposuction : Liposuction can be done under local anesthesia. The real question is whether or not you really want it done under local anesthesia. Generally speaking, every procedure we do can be done under local. However, general anesthesia is used by many surgeons to make the patient as comfortable as possible. Patients have absolutely no pain with general anesthesia during the procedure. They also do not remember any portion of the procedure. With local you would be fully awake for the entire procedure and may have moments where you do feel pain. Also, in order to keep you comfortable you might need a large amount of local which may approach or exceed the usual limits of that medication. In my practice, unless we are planning one small area, i recommend general anesthesia for my patients' comfort. I hope this info helps! ...Read moreSee 3 more doctor answers
No: Liposuction is performed through very small incisions. It is not necessary to places stitches in the incisions. I used to place stitches, but now i leave them open so that all the fluid drains out. Every surgeon has a different approach to stitches, but ultimately it doesn't make a difference. http://www.dassmd.com/liposuction/index.html. ...Read moreSee 9 more doctor answers
Does tumescent liposuction cause a lot of swelling? Does tumescent liposuction cause as much swelling as regular liposuction, or is it less?
Not very: You may be a good candidate for a body lift or a tummy tuck, maybe even arm skin tightening. After losing massive weight, your skin is left loose. Additional liposuction may even make this worse. Skin will not shrink up unfortunately and needs to be surgically tightened up. ...Read moreSee 3 more doctor answers

What do you mean?: If the "stiffness" is firmness under the skin where you had liposuction, it depends upon type (laser?).
