Likely had hydrocele: Small hydroceles surrounding testes could have made you feel testes were larger than they were before. Ur now feeling true size of testes. Not due to surgery: Swelling of foot and ankle is not a complication of Hernia Surgery.I suggest you have your Doctor check it. It may be due to edema caused by the Iv Fluids if given during the surgery.If it is painful then it may be some kind of trauma.But the surgery will not cause the swelling ...Read more

I had open inguinal hernia surgery a few days ago, i noticed a lot of swelling at and around the incision, is this normal, what causes this, how long should it last and what could I do to reduce it.

Probably normal: If the repair was done with an open technique, there is usually swelling and a firmness felt under the length of the incision. Ice and antiinflammatory medication can help.
