Sushi With Rice Vinegar Gastritis
I have gastritis, is it okay to consume the following items: avocados, garlic, ginger, vinegar, soy sauce, apple cider? Also in what ways should they be prepared or used to maximize their benefit or at least minimize the bad effects?
Okay except: Everything should be okay except the vinegar. The vinegar has a lot of acid in it and it would be irritating to the stomach. Best to avoid that. Everything else should be okay. ...Read more
No: Ant acids like Prilosec in high doses. ...Read more
Depends: There are many causes of chronic gastritis. H.Pylori is one cause and apple cider vinegar has been observed to inhibit its growth along with other natural remedies like aloe and coconut oil. Both alcohol and vinegar can release histamine which increases stomach acid. Listen to your body. ...Read more
4 weeks ago I had sushi and within an hour felt very full, burping etc. Then I had pain in the stomach area. Thought it was gastritis. Took nexium. It was very bad for about a week but has gotten much better. Did I get a parasite? Or unrelated?
Very unlikely: Parasite infections would not resolve like that, nor are your symptoms typical of a parasite infection. ...Read more
There are no: Scientific randomized controlled study data to support the claims made by many herbal medicine pundits, let alone 2000 years of Chinese medicine wisdom. However, there are supposed to be benefits to black rice and its fermented derivative vinegar, including cardiovascular "cleansing" effects, antioxidant effects, and immune boosting vitamins. ...Read more
Can I use 1 spoon of rice vinegar (ingredients: water, ethanol, rice)/day in my diet when I am on accutane?
What's really in it?: It's almost certain you signed an agreement, when you started on accutane, not to drink alcohol. Keeping a promise is a matter of principle. If the "rice vinegar" is a concoction that someone makes from real ethanol as a folk medicine, you're breaking a promise. However, most "rice vinegar" has the ethanol oxidized to acetic acid. That's harmless flavor, though there's probably no health benefit. ...Read more

Is brown rice healthy for consumption for a type 2 diabetic? I like brown rice veggie sushi, is it a healthy choice for me? Thanks.
Better than white: Rice -whether it is white or brown is a carbohydrate and should be eaten in a limited amount when you have dm. Brown rice is a better choice because it is higher in fiiber and tends to have better effect on blood sugars. I usually encourage my pts w dm to stay < 30-45grms/meal in women and < 45-60 in men- rice I feel is a carb that encourage getting rid of and focusing on increased veggies. ...Read more

Was having gastritis s/s. taking nexium (esomeprazole) for 8 days now, appetite back but still have occ. Pains in R&L Up quad...H.pylori? Had 0 s/s yest & day before
On the mend, or not?: The answer you receive changes based on whether your Nexium (esomeprazole) was prescribed empirically (e.g. based only on symptoms or educated guess), or whether you had testing that actually documented gastritis. FYI: there are a lot of things that mimick "gastritis" so if you still have symptoms despite symptom-directed therapy, then objective evaluation is warranted to get you on the correct treatment. ...Read more
Why do I burp so much? I don’t have gastritis and neither do I have GERD... I did have my gallbladder removed but not sure if that’s relevant
Burping occurs from: Swallowing excessive air. This can be a reflection of dental misalignment or eating and swallowing too rapidly. Regardless it is not detrimental. Try cutting your food into smaller bites, eating slowly and not talking with your mouth full. ...Read more
Yes: Vinegar is a strong acid and can damage teeth if not diluted with other foods when cooking. If used as a punishment, it is a very negative consequence that is not a natural consequence. (natural consequence would be being cold when a child refused to wear or carry a coat in the cold.) most behavior experts support positive parenting. Talk with your pediatrician. Consider a psychologist if needed. ...Read more
Yes: Your stomach continues receiving gastric acid whether you eat or not. Food intake helps buffer against that acidity, so if you don't eat, the gastric acid will irritate your stomach and cause inflammation, what is known as gastritis. Anything that increases this acidity, I.e, medications, anxiety, alcohol, etc worsens the inflammation. Not eating on time can aggravate temporary. ...Read more
