Can you tell me about surgical clips fliating around my abdomen?

Can you tell me about surgical clips fliating around my abdomen?

Depends: Clips that are placed during surgery are intentionally placed by the surgeon for various reasons. There rarely can become dislodged and "float around" in the abdomen. Even if that was the case it would rarely ever cause any problems. The best person to tell you would be the surgeon performing your case. See then for specific questions. ...Read more

I had gallbladder removal surgery a yr ago, had pain an diff issues since I recently found out surgical clips were left inside idk what to do?

Unlikely from clips: A majority of laparoscopic cholecystectomies are done with clips to secure the cystic duct. The clips are there for a good reason - I would seriously doubt your pain is from the clips themselves.

Would check with your doctor or surgeon just to be sure nothing else is going on, including a retained stone, or peptic ulcer disease. ...Read more

Do you know why I would have 13-24 surgical clips in me from a lap. Gallbladder surgery?

Uncommon: It is a bit uncommon to have that many. I would say on average pts have 4-6 clips "left" inside them. They are inert and as long as you had no complications, there is no issue with them being there. It's best to talk to your surgeon to get the details on your procedure to get the answers for which you are searching. ...Read more

I had a lap. Gallbladder surgery I have 13-24 surgical clips in my liver, is it a normal thing to have in after that surgery? #nqlu in laproscopic surgeries they cannot use stiches so I have been told since, they only staple.

It: It is normal to have clips in the area below your liver known as the gallbladder fossa after a laparoscopic cholecystectomy (gallbladder removal). 13 or 24 clips is a lot, however. Normally, most surgeons will have 2-3 clips on what is called the cystic duct stump and on the cystic artery, making 4-6 clips normal. That being said, every patient and every case is different. It is possible that you had what is called "aberrant anatomy" such that you either had extra blood vessels that required more clips, or that you had some large venous sinuses under your liver that were bleeding during surgery and required more clips.
If you are more than a few weeks out from your surgery and are doing fine then this probably isn't anything to worry about. In most cases, the complications associated with having your gallbladder removed laparoscopically occur almost immediately after surgery and are readily apparent. There are some less common problems, such as narrowing of your bile duct or occlussion of your hepatic artery that can show up later. If these things happen, they do tend to be associated with cases that are considered more difficult. If you are concerned you should ask the surgeon who did your procedure to explain to you how your surgery went and if you should be concerned, but I suspect you have little to be worried about. ...Read more

How many people are allergic to titanium in the surgical clips? #nqlu I had a lap. Gallbladder surgery removal I have been having a lot of problems. I have always been allergic to jewlery, I have had constant infections, skin rashes, etc.

How many people are allergic to titanium in the surgical clips? #nqlu I had a lap. Gallbladder surgery removal I have been having a lot of problems. I have always been allergic to jewlery, I have had constant infections, skin rashes, etc.

This: This is a very rare allergy and your question is impossible to answer. There is no reporting system in place to document suspected or real cases of titanium allergy, therefore there is no way to know how many people are allergic to titanium. If you feel you are allergic to titanium there is a test called the melisa test. Your doctor should be able to find out where you can obtain such testing.
Good luck. ...Read more

I had a CT done after gb surgery and it said I have a surgical clip and fluid as well as gas in gb fossa. Is it something to be concerned about?

It depends: The clip is likely part of your surgery - you do want the cystic duct sealed for good. Fluid and gas may be problematic - not normal if the surgery was done a while ago or you have other signs of infection such as fever. ...Read more
