Artery: This is most likely an artery and if it is very prominent, it's advisable to have your physician evaluate your neck for the possibility of an aneurysm or any other abnormalities.

I have lump in suprasternal notch exactly in centre in d hollow, what is the diagnosis and trtmnt?

See your physician: There are a number of possible causes for a lump in the suprasternal notch. It's not possible to give a precise diagnosis based on one sentence of information and no examination. The possible causes are numerous and range from benign fatty tumors (lipoma) to enlarged lymph nodes, cysts, and other conditions. See your physician for a proper examination. You may need an ultrasound of the mass.

Feels like a golf ball is stuck in my chest just below suprasternal notch. No pain just discomfort. What can this be?

Food most likely: You are 27 year old male with feelings of a mass in throat. Most likely it is a bolus of food that was not chewed enough. This is most common. If it has slowly progressed you may consider lymph nodes. See your doctor. He/she will ask about pain, ability to swallow liquids and solids. He/she will also ask about any recent travel, fevers, sleeping habits.

My 18 year old son has a pea size lump in his suprasternal notch and he says it has a little pain. He has had it and it has gotten bigger.

Get it checked: Its hard to determine what it could be without examining him and getting a little more history. Depending on whether the lump is subcutaneous or deeper it could be anything from a cyst to a thyroid nodule. have him see a doctor.

I feel a tightening in my suprasternal notch. It feels worse if I move a straight arm stretched across my chest or above my head.

I feel a tightening in my suprasternal notch. It feels worse if I move a straight arm stretched across my chest or above my head.

Sternal notch tight: May be costochondritis, Inflammation of the joint joining the clavical to the manubrium. Does it hurt when you press on the bone? Or just may be a musculoskeletal inflammation of the sternocleidomastoid muscle or other muscles (is that tender?) Would try tylenol or motrin and see if helps. Rarely may be be from reflux, (try mylanta) or cardiac consider EKG. F/u /w doc

Still possible: A visible pulse does not always mean dilatation or aneurysm. Nevertheless an ECG does not delineate an aneurysm either. A tranthoracic echocardiogram to view root and ascending aorta would be more appropriate as first line noninvasive test

AORTIC ANEURYSM: If it is not properly visualized with a 2D Echo. Then a trans esophageal echo or TEE is indicated another option would be a MRA of the thoracic region. Discuss with your cardiologist.

I have what feels like a lump in my suprasternal notch. No palpable pulse. Also have a lump on my neck just above and to the right of my thyroid gland?

Numerous tumors: Can occur in the anterior mediastinum of which the classic textbook examples of thyroid cyst or lymphoma, etc are ONLY A MINORITY. And simple lymph node, cyst, boil/abcess are at least as common. But everything on the list is treatable and needs attention...so....

After coughing a lot and clearing my throat, I now have a bulge at the suprasternal notch when I cough or laugh. IS this a hernia?

After coughing a lot and clearing my throat, I now have a bulge at the suprasternal notch when I cough or laugh. IS this a hernia?

Sounds like it.: Consult with a surgeon, who can usually tell on physical exam whether or not you have an epigastric hernia. Sometimes, this could be a diastasis, or separation, between your rectus muscles.

Visible pulse in suprasternal notch, and cartoid arteries (both sides) also tight throat and difficulty swallowing. 20 year old male. Causes?

Pulse: It may be trivial or serious, it can be anxiety but can also be something with the heart. At any rate, I think you should get checked to reassure you and / or to get some tests done.
