Suppository Laxative Didn T Work
Uncertain: In general, it is recommended that medications not be used after expiration date. With that said, there is a big difference between being expired for 5 days versus 5 years. Your pharmacist should be able to provide more information.
A suppository is a drug delivery system that is inserted into the rectum (rectal suppository), vagina (vaginal suppository) or urethra (urethral suppository), where it dissolves or melts. I've increased fiber, water, exercise and still only pass pebbles. Have to use a laxative at least 1 every 2 weeks. Suppository doesn't clean out?
Chronic constipation: For how long? Opioids / anticholinergics? Drink 2.5 -3 liters /day, combo of water /gatorade. Juice? Also 1-2 glassesf prune juice /day Consider Sitz study where they have you swallow markers and over 5 days see how many you release in stool, if few are released it means the bowel is moving too slow. Or may have congential absence of muscularis in some colon section. F/u w/ gastroenterology
Senna - Glycerin: Both glycerin and senna laxatives are rather safe, but they do work in different ways. Senna is considered a stimulant laxative and glycerin is a lubricant. Depending on the cause of the constipation, glycerin is the "gentler" option. However, I have seen situations where both senna and glycerin suppositories were used together.
I've been constipated for 4-5 days. Today I've taken 3 laxatives and a suppository but not worked yet. Cramping a lot and can't even pass gas! Advise?
Unable to eliminate bowel for 2 weeks. Laxative and suppository not working. Trying not to eat much. Any suggestion to help movement?
Can't move bowels: Suspect you are impacted and need to see your Dr. To dig it out or do enema.
My abdomen hurts and I feel nauseous sometimes I have had a hard time pooping For the last 8 days I have been taking laxatives and suppositories?
Full of stool: Sounds like you are constipated and your intestines are full of stool. This is causing the nausea. You could try using an enema to get the hard stool out that is plugging everything up. Once cleaned out, you need more fiber in your diet in general to prevent this from happening again. Eat 5+ fruits/veg daily. Eliminate cheese. Try metamucil powder every AM. Try docusate stool softeners at bedtime.
I haven't pooped in several days. I tryed chocolate laxitive and suppository and hasn't helped. What else can I try? I normally poop every day
My baby is havingfsevere constipation. She is given plenty of fluids. We are forced to give her laxative and suppositorie still very painful.?
Diet change: You did not give the age of the baby. It is a very common problem and you often need o give suppositories and laxative (usually miralax, (polyethylene glycol) which is effective and safe), change diet and formula if he/she takes formula, and it still takes time. After no BMs in 7 days, is it safe to use ClearLax in the same day as a glycerine suppository? The suppository didn't work.
Glycerin vs enema: If you are experiencing acute constipation or fecal impaction, home glycerin suppository is a good first step. You may also consider a fleets enema or a mineral oil enema as second line. If these are not working, a visit to your md or an er may be necessary for further management. General recommendation is to focus on prevention by plenty of fluids and high-fiber diet on a day to day basis.
MOM or miralax (polyethylene glycol): Milk of magnesia or MiraLAX (polyethylene glycol) (glycolax). Puysh the dose until you go. Magnesium citrate and GoLytely work as well. But the bigger question is why are you constipated. If this is new and severe you need to see a physician and may need further testing.
Depends: On why you are using it. If you are constipated and it doesn't help you poop, then try drinking more water and increasing p-fruits...Peach, pear plum, pineapple, papaya. Peas, pumpkin, pomegranate...If you are severely constipated, ask your doctor about other methods....Increased fiber can help, MiraLAX (polyethylene glycol) can help, etc. You may need guidance for best results.
There are: Vitamin suppositories. They work well. I have seen them used for patients who have had gastric bypass and have malabsorption problems. It is preferred to use vitamin suppositories than IV vitamin supplement.
I feeling constipated and I just took three suppositorys. What else will help me if this does not work?
Water: Please drink three liters of water over the next hour.
