Was diagnosed as having a low red blood cell count by my doctor, was also given pills but is there an type foods I can take to increase its levels.
Need more info: What type of pills? Unless you have bad reaction to the pills, you should continue taking those. For good health - Have a diet rich in fresh vegetables, fruits, whole grains, low fat milk and milk products, nuts, beans, legumes, lentils and small amounts of lean meats. Avoid saturated fats. Exercise at least 150 minutes/week and increase the intensity of exercise gradually. Do not use tobacco, alcohol, weed or street drugs in any form. Practice safe sex.
Depends on chemo: If problem related to diet then use of iron products may help or change in diet. Effect of chemo reduces both RBC and WBC. The RBC can be increased using erythropoietin and the WBC by adding Neupogen but if chemo high the drugs may only moderate extent of fall. Otherwise they can help restore marrow replacement of WBC and RBC.
Anemic: Treat the cause of anemia. Many different causes lead to different kinds of anemia and very different types of treatment.
Increase RBC count: Can be seen a condition called polycythmia vera. Please see your doctor.
