You really need to: have this checked out! Your eye doctor can see it iunder a slit lamp microscope and tell you exactly what's going on. Any inflammation will have dilated capillaries surrounding it. The key is to get to it early, and see what else is going on INSIDE the eyeball too! So, don't delay! It may be nothing, and then it may be something! We can't diagnose on this forum, but your doctor can! Call now! ...Read more

I suspect that what you are referring to is a superficial scalp lesion; however, the only way to determine is to be seen by a physician so that they can examine the area of concern and then treat accordingly. Take care of you can make an appointment. ...Read more

Have it examined: The usual soft spot on a newborn can vary in size from a fingertip to quite large, but all should be near undetected by 2 if not sooner. I would have it examined by the kids doc to see if additional studies are needed. You have not indicated its location or size, which does matter, but without examining the spot, little more can be suggested. ...Read more

Indentation: At your age you should not have a soft spot in your skull. I would see your doctor and possible a skull film to examine the thickness of your bone in your skull. How do you cause and reduce the soft spot on the top of a newborns head?

You don't: The soft spot or spots (front & back) represent areas where the edges of the skull bones are separated by more than a few millimeters. They can be as small as a pea at birth, enlarge over a few months & for most seem closed by 15-18 mo. Some start out big, i've seen one softball sized & had a helmet made to protect the head. Graduall closure over time is based on genetic factors, not your efforts. ...Read more
