Aging : Aging takes place slowly and unfortunately is progressive. Looking more "sunken" or loss of volume in the face can be related to loss of bone structure support or soft tissue support or both. If you feel young and would like to rejuvenate this area, there are many options including cheek implants. Cheek implants are placed through incisions in the gumline and are considered "permanent". The implant will reposition your cheek area and give you "higher cheekbones". Other options for rejuvenation in this area can include less invasive procedures include fat augmentation or transfer or dermal injection techniques. Fat transfer involves harvesting fat from one area of your body, processing it and then injecting it into the areas needed volume or needing rejuvenation. Dermal fillers can involve temporary or more permanent substances and are the least invasive of the options for rejuvenation of the cheek area. Sculptra is a product which offers long term rejuvenation while also helping stimulate your own collagen for added volume. Less permanent fillers include radiesse, restylane, (dermal fillers) and juvederm. A experienced board certified facial plastic surgeon should be consulted to give you the best advice. I would recommend in most over 60 year old patients a combined approach using the technique which my patients desire and i feel would give them the safest and best results. I hope this information helps you in making your decision. You can also visit my website at www.Pattmd.Com for more information. ...Read more
