Do not ignore :
Edema can be pitting or brawny. Press around the ankle firmly - hold and release. If there is a indentation that stays around it is pitting edema. If you can not dent the flesh it is brawny edema and much harder to deal with.
Support hose, elevation, sequential compression, diuretic meds and decrease in salt are a good start. If this does not work pt specialized in lymph-edema can help. ...Read more
