Suffocation During Birth (Overview)

Suffocation during birth is also known as Asphyxia Neonatorum. It is when the pulse becomes decreased or absent during birth for a prolonged period of time (usually greater than five minutes) and may result in the newborn requiring Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation at birth and continued support after birth.
