Try first: If you have no medical contraindications, you can try simple over the counter pain medications like advil, aleve or tylenol (acetaminophen). However, best way to decide how to treat is to know what is causing the pain, so see your doctor for review of symptoms and exam in case something more serious needing prescription or other work-up.

Foot pain needs eval: Foot pain may be coming from spasticity, or overactivity in the foot muscles. You need to be seen by a neurologist or PMR doc to eval if this is the problem vs some foot pathology such as a plantar fasciitis. Good treatments are available, so, get going!

What causes a sharp pain in the bottom of your foot?

Foot pain: There can be many different reasons for foot pain. From arthritis, plantar fasciitis, stress fractures, general foot fatigue, stepping on an object, calluses and countless more. Even the time of day the pain comes can help determine why you are having pain. You can ask your pcp for a podiatry referral if the pain continues to worsen.

Why do I feel a sharp pain in the middle of the bottom of my foot when I run?

Why do I feel a sharp pain in the middle of the bottom of my foot when I run?

Possibly nerve: The sharp pain sensation can be the result of a nerve that is being irritated in the arch area and/or the result of a ligament/tendon that may be pulled while you bear weight. This is something you want to see a foot specialist for in order to have your foot checked, gait evaluated and shoes checked. Don't run through it, not checking it could eventually slow you down.

Pinched Nerve: What is the definition of sometimes? This can be an achilles issue, nerve issue in the buttock area (sciatica), plantar fasciitis, tight calf muscle, tarsal tunnel. More information would be helpful. AM pain, rest pain, walking pain? How frequent does this happen? Does it interfere with your daily life?

HEEL INJURY: YOU MAY HAVE A SPRAIN OR A TEAR OF ONE OF THE LIGAMENTS IN YOUR FOOT. SEE YOUR PCP AND HE OR SHE MAY REFER YOU TO AN ORTHOPEDIC SURGEON. OR HE MAY SEND YOU TO THE X-RAY DEPARTMENT TO MAKE SURE NO BONES WERE BROKEN. DO IT RIGHT AWAY AND NO RUNNING FOR A WHILE. BEST LUCK.

I'm getting a sharp pain in my big toe on my right foot on the bottom right where the knuckle starts when I walk. Should I be concerned?

I'm getting a sharp pain in my big toe on my right foot on the bottom right where the knuckle starts when I walk. Should I be concerned?

Get an X-ray: Pain in the big toe can be a presenting sign of gout, but more often than not, a musculoskeletal problem exists - you should probably see s good internist or orthopedist, or podiatrist and start with an X-Ray, however, blood work to rule out a metabolic disorder may be needed. See a doctor first, see what they think is the next best step...

Nerve pain: Sounds like radicular pain, nerve pain. May be sciatica. Most LBP is not serious and goes away with time, physio, and simple analgesia. Warning signs include numbness, weakness, urinary or defecating problems, or fever. If you are older or have a cancer that is concerning also. If any concerns or symptoms persist you should see your doctor.

Have your Dr. Refer: You to an osteopathic physiotherapist in the UK to evaluate this further. There are a few excellent schools/ clinics asssociated with the schools of osteopathy that provide excellent care, evaluation and treatment to see what the underlying problem is, and treat it. Sciatica is not a fun diagnosis, and one in which can be managed successfully.

TMJ: The most likely diagnosis based on your history is a subluxation or shifting of your temporomandibular joint that connects your upper and lower jaw bones together just below your ear. Since you are still having difficulty chewing with a feeling of misalignment of your teeth I recommend you make an appointment with your dentist.
