This can sometimes force salt water up to your eustachian tube and up into your middle ear. This is not uncommon. It's possible you have an infection in the ear canal or behind the ear drum. However your symptoms are somewhat atypical for these causes. It's possible the source of your pain is somewhere else in the in the pharynx and is being "referred" to the ear area. You need to see your physician as soon as possible. If the cause isn't apparent you need to see an ENT specialist.
