Sudden Pink Spot On Forehead
I have a small, smooth, square red spot on my forehead. I notice it gets redder, but then goes back to a pink color. Is it a mole or cancerous?
Likely hemangioma: Likely it is a small hemangioma- which is a benign tumor of the blood vessel. It can get redder if the circulation on that area increased- for instance after coughing, getting upset etc- and will go back to pink when blood flow gets back to normal again. However, nothing can substitute clinical examination- ask your primary care doctor to check it out. Does not sound like a mole. ...Read more
Many possibilities: Three common possibilities are viral eruption, drug eruption, and allergic reaction to something. There are other possibilities as well. Good day Dr. I have a 22days old baby boy with a pink spot at the back of his head neck, so I would like to know what must I do to remove it,?
Nothing: Without seeing the spot in person it's difficult to provide a certain diagnosis. Many babies are born with "stork bites" -red/salmon colored areas - on the back of their necks/heads. It is a birthmark and nothing to worry about and will fade over time on it's own. If you are still concerned please have a pediatrician evaluate it before subjecting your baby to unnecessary and potentially harmful tx ...Read more

My baby had a fetal blood sample on her scalp before she was born. It's left a pink, bumpy spot on her head in which it seems to be getting bigger.
Scalp spot: Have you taken her to the doctor? If you've not, then you should do it. It may be a small hematoma (blood collection), but without seeing it or doing a study such as ultrasound, it's hard to tell. ...Read more

Had ring worm on scalp as a kid. Left a bald spot top corner of head. Mole on spot was brown now pink. Hurts to touch and sometimes shooting pain.
Skin findings: It is very hard to diagnose skin lesions over the telephone. If tender you might have an infection. Start with seeing your primary doctor and if needed, a dermatologist. Be prepared to say how long the problem has been there, any medications and other symptoms. This needs to be seen in person. ...Read more
Depends: If it is simply sun-damage, some topical treatments or some laser treatments may a good option. However, if the lesion is concerning for melanoma, it needs to be biopsied. Melanomas are screened by the abcd's: a-asymmetry; b-irregular borders; c-different colors; d-diameber >6mm (size of pencil eraser). If you notice a mole with these characteristics, get it checked out asap. ...Read more

I just noticed a swollen spot on the right side of my forehead. It's not painful, but it scares me. What should I do?
Watch it closely: Keep an eye on it. Likely a simple papule. It may develop a white central piece which would be best treated with some lemon juice, and warm compress. Otherwise likely a bug bite if it itches. Hard to say without any pics also. Can use some over counter Benadryl (diphenhydramine) or cortisone cream ...Read more

What shampoo is good at whole food for my son ezama in his head plus there is a dry spot by the forehead please. Help?
I suspect that your son has seborrheic dermatitis, or dandruff. You can look for the following types of shampoo at whole foods:
•selenium sulfide shampoos.
•zinc pyrithione shampoos.
-salicylic acid shampoos.
You don't state the age of your son, but if he is an infant and has cradle cap, you can rub baby oil in the area and scrub it with a soft brush in the bath. ...Read more

I have a white spot on my forehead (see profile pic) about the size of a quarter. It is not spreading but does seem dry at times.
Hard to see: Your profile pic is really small, but common reasons for patchy, flaky areas of skin include nummular eczema and psoriasis. If it is just an area of depigmented skin, then it could be vitiligo, but the flakiness makes that less likely. Try changing your shampoo/hair care products to something gentler, or try dandruff shampoos (e.g., t/sal). If that doesn't work, see a dermatologist. ...Read more

There is a black dark spot in my forehead and it has not gone till now. It has been about 2 years. What treatment we can do in home?
You need to: See a dermatologist. Hypothetically speaking - how do you know you don't have a form of skin cancer? Skin cancer does not hurt. It also won't go away. On its own. I am not saying this is what you have. However, I can't see your specific lesion. Because of that, you must see a dermatologist for an examination. ...Read more
