Maybe. . .: Blood pressure does vary thruout day when using same device. I suspect that you're comparing your BP taken w/your personal machine to numbers achieved in your doctor's office taken w/his or her equipment. What's more important is calibration of your machine to your doctor's. Do this by bringing your device to the office and checking your BP with it immediately after staff checks w/their equipment. ...Read more

Can the systolic reading on a home BP machine fluctuate 15 or more points in a single sitting (taking BP three times)? Or is my machine likely faulty?

Entirely possible: Be sure you're at complete rest for 10 minutes before starting and stay at rest while you make your measurements. If each successive measurement falls, you likely have anxiety related (anticipatory) HTN and the more you measure it, the less this will be an issue as you get more used to the routine. Meanwhile, measure 5 times, throw out the low and high, and average the other 3. ...Read more

Yes: Blood pressure varies depending upon time of day, activity & even position. So yes, it's normal to fluctuate. It's certainly: Possible to gain "3 pounds overnight" if someone eats very salty food and/or has a problem with fluid retention. This is water weight, not body mass.
