Sudden Drop In Blood Sugar Causes
The blood sugar concentration or blood glucose level is the amount of glucose (sugar) present in the blood of a human or animal. The body naturally tightly regulates blood glucose levels as a part of metabolic homeostasis. Glucose is the primary source of energy for the body's cells, and blood lipids (in the form of fats and oils) are primarily ...Read more
Can a sudden drop in blood sugar levels cause epinephrine release even if it doesn't drop below 5.Ommol/l?
Yes: This is known as a false hypoglycemic reaction, where a rapid drop of sugar from a high level to a more normal level can cause hypoglycemic symptoms. This typically occurs in diabetics with poor blood sugar control. It can occasionally occur in people who are not diabetic but have reactive hypoglycemia. Read more
70-99mg/dl fasting: Normal blood sugars are between 70-100mg/dl when you are in a fasting state (at least 8hrs). Diabetes is present when the number hits 126mg/dl in the fasting state. When the sugars fall in between these ranges (100-125), this would be considered impaired fasting glucose or pre-diabetes (borderline diabetes). Read more

Doesn't happen: If you're overweight and you eat, your blood sugar increases. Your body is designed to drop that sugar back to normal; that's what it's supposed to do. When it does that you may have mild symptoms, but they will not harm you. How do you know your sugar is dropping, as people are generally not able to predict blood sugar accurately, they just think they know. Don't fall for internet scams either. Read more
Can eating something with to much sugar for breakfast cause a drop in blood sugar in the afternoon? I felt shakes and it was 73after ate it was 109.
No: In my 35 years of practice, I have never seen a case of reactive hypoglycemia. The disorder doesn't exist, if you're overweight the symptoms are a natural response to your glucose level returning to normal. Lose weight and you won't have these symptoms. In the meantime they won't harm you in any way. Read more
Usually not: The body has a way of homeostasis or control. There is an interaction of the amount of Insulin released, the response of the tissues and cells and the kidneys to keep blood sugar at certain level not to exceed a limit (140). There is a condition called insulinoma wherein there is exaggerated release of Insulin to bring blood sugar down and if so it has to be diagnosed so it can be treated. Read more
