I got up in the middle of the night and had blurry vision in one eye what is it? I need help I'm freaking out
Blurry vision: Sometimes after sleep, our vision may be out of focus but it quickly resolves after rubbing our eyes or rinsing them. If that didn't help and it's still blurry and you don't wear contact lenses, you will need to be examined to determine the cause. If it's gone by now, chances are it was something transient and of no major significance. ...Read more
What would cause extreme blurry vision (cannot distinguish even very large letters) out of only one eye in a child?
Check my list: If this is a new event (the child saw well from this eye a brief period prior to this) then you need to see an ophthalmologist right away. If this has been present for a long time, then it might be some congenital problem with the eye, a very high refraction in that eye alone, a retinal problem from birth, a variety of problems in the back of the eye. This needs to be sorted out with an exam ...Read more

Sounds like a: Phoria is present. A phoria is a tendency for the eyes to become misaligned. You have ability to keep the eyes in alignment most of the time, but when tired, you are unable to do so. The eyes become misaligned and you get double and blurred vision. Glasses with prism in them will help alleviate this problem. See an eye doctor. ...Read more

Many causes: If there has been a change in vision get it checked as soon as possible. It is possible that you simply have a glasses prescription in one eye and not the other. Farsighted prescriptions can be focused in, but the focusing declines noticeably as one goes through the 40's. An eye exam will distinguish a prescription difference from other causes such as cataract, retinal problems, etc. ...Read more
I have blurry vision and more so in one eyeand been to a eye dr and said I have a slight stigma. Worried. Confused?
Probably OK: If you have been tested, hopefully by an ophthalmologist, and the blur you note in one eye is due to a small degree of astigmatism (meaning that eye is slightly oval), then you probably have nothing to worry about especially if the eye doctor said you do not need to wear eyeglasses or contacts. ...Read more
Can you tell me if I have 20/20 vision in one eye and blurry vision in the other is my general eye sight still considered 20/20?

Hi, this blurry vision in one eye that comes and goes occurs only on days when I sleep in a certain room. What could the thing in that room be?
Blurry Mystery: This is somewhat unusual. If there is something in the room that you are allergic to and the vision is affected, both eyes should be affected. Another possibility is that one eye comes open some during sleep causing dryness, and maybe this room is dryer than others due to ceiling fans, etc. Possibly also an allergy to bed sheets that come in contact with one eye only. Try covering the eye at night. ...Read more

Can you tell me if one eye has blurry vision, does that impact depth perception at all, or does one eye have to be totally blind to reduce depth perception?
Usually not: I knew a one eye'd tae kwon do master who could throw a punch at your face and stop within a milimeter of hitting you. There are enough visual 'clues' that we use that even with one eye our brain can percieve a depth perception. You'd fail our stereoscopic tests and probably waste money in 3d movies, but other than that you would have a normal life. ...Read more

I believe I got an eye infection through make -up (false eyelashes) I've had a very red, scratchy, irritated and blurry vision in one eye for two days. I've traveling abroad and still traveling for another day before I can see a Dr. What should I do?
Likely allergic: Although you could get an infection from shared cosmetics, lashes, I doubt this has happened. Your tissue likely had an allergic response to the material used to attach the lashes. A simple eye wash and or artificial tears can help you in the near term and avoid using the lashes. If allergic, it will improve slowly, if infected this should help until you are seen. ...Read more
In regards to retinal detachment, symptoms are red eye, blurry vision, black spots and lights, pain at times, noticeable dimness all in one eye only
Guarded Prognosis: Pain and red eye usually aren't associated with retinal detachment unless it is chronic or unless the eye has inflammation and the detachment is caused by a fluid build-up instead of a hole.
