Ct scan showed subcentimeter mediastinal lymph nodes largest at prevascular 1.6cm. Any need for concern little freaked.

May not be a problm: Why was the study done? What these show depend on yo clinical picture and may not be a probem. You need to discuss with your physician. If necessary can get them biopsied.

Chest CT scan shows "nonspecific subcentimeter mediastinal and right hilar lymph nodes" should this be repeated?

Chest CT scan shows "nonspecific subcentimeter mediastinal and right hilar lymph nodes" should this be repeated?

Usually not: Typically no - these are usually normal findings. But it depends on the whole clinical picture - only your doctor can decide if follow up is needed.

Multiple small subcentimeter bilateral axillary, mediastinal and hilar lymph nodes are noted on CT Scan what does this mean?

Multiple small subcentimeter bilateral axillary, mediastinal and hilar lymph nodes are noted on CT Scan what does this mean?

Just what it says: Lymph nodes, located where they are supposed to be, visible on the CT scan and at a size that is generally considered normal. Taken out of context, it is impossible to tell you anymore than this. But even in the context of some known disease, these likely mean nothing.

I am diagnosed subsegmental atelectasis, mild pleural thickening and swollen superior mediastinal and supraclavicular lymph nodes. All are releated?

I am diagnosed subsegmental atelectasis, mild pleural thickening and swollen superior mediastinal and supraclavicular lymph nodes. All are releated?

Nodes: Possibly. You need a thorough check up and will probably need the nodes biopsied. There are many causes for those findings

Hysterectomy for endometrial cancer. Now have all mediatinal lymph nodes & bilateral hilar enlarged w/virchow's node. No sarcoid. What?

Hysterectomy for endometrial cancer. Now have all mediatinal lymph nodes & bilateral hilar enlarged w/virchow's node. No sarcoid. What?

Investigation&biopsy: Need evaluation & investigation, virchow's node is most likely from abdominal metastasis, can be diagnosed by simple biopsy low risk procedure, nature nodes in the chest need pet scan evaluation first or vats (video assisted thoracic surgery) biopsy.

In layman's terms what does this mean? Prominent calcified mediastinal and hilar lymph nodes and scattered calcified granulomas in both lungs. Heart

In layman's terms what does this mean? Prominent calcified mediastinal and hilar lymph nodes and scattered calcified granulomas in both lungs. Heart

Old infection: Would be the most common explanation, but there are some other illnesses that could cause this and be more worrisome. You need to ask the physician who ordered the x-ray what s/he was worried about, and what is the cause for these findings. Good luck!

In layman's terms what does this mean? Prominent calcified mediastinal and hilar lymph nodes and scattered calcified granulomas in both lungs. Heart

Changes in tissue: These changes mean that some of the tissue of the heart and lungs is not the normal way it usually looks on xray. When tissue is damaged by infection or inflammation sometimes calcium builds in those areas and forms scars or when the body is trying to heal itself it forms a barrier around an abnormal area. The lymph nodes filters things out of the body and can get enlarged.

CT shows calcified granuloma in left lobe, calcified hilar & mediastinal lymph nodes. Spleen upper limits of normal. Chronic pain, no answers.

Calcified granuloma: 31 F: Little Rock ARK: CT shows calcified granuloma in left lobe, calcified hilar & mediastinal lymph nodes. Spleen upper limits of normal. Chronic pain, no answers. ANS: you live in the histoplamaosis area so that is most likley cause. Are you a spelunker? Or have you cleaned out chicken or pigeon cages when younger? Need more info. Born in US?, Hx of TBC? Skin tests done for tbc and histoplasm?

Contrast enhanced CT showed 'reactive appearing mediastinal lymph nodes.' What does this mean? I had pelvic phleboliths too. Normal blood work. Blood in urine.

Lymph nodes: They may be in reaction to something that your body has been exposed to however I think you should ask the physician who ordered the scan to explain this to you

Cause of enlarged mediastinal and hilar lymph nodes? Chest CT clear apart from nodes. Chronic dry cough, breathless, intermittent fevers and lethargy?

Cause of enlarged mediastinal and hilar lymph nodes? Chest CT clear apart from nodes. Chronic dry cough, breathless, intermittent fevers and lethargy?

Infection vs tumor: Usually enlarged mediastinal and hilar nodes can represent granulomatous infection such as tuberculosis. In southwest coccidiodomycosis, in midwest brucellosis. Sometimes depends on age and immune system of individual. Most lymphomas either Hodgkins or Nonhodgkins can produce mediastinal and hilar nodes. Should seek physician for work up and therapy.

What does subcentimeter lymph nodes mean?

What does subcentimeter lymph nodes mean?

Very small: Lymphatic system absorbs/carries things too big to go into the arteries/veins like bacteria eaten by white cells and digested food. Lymph nodes "taste" the lymph for anything bad like bacteria/viruses/cancers, etc. When it detects a problem, it alerts the immune system and your body reacts. They enlarge in response to the inflammation they create when they react. That term means < 1cm.

Why do we have lymph nodes?

Why do we have lymph nodes?

Part of immunity: Lymph nodes are an essential part of our immune system. They not only generate precursor cells to what is termed "fixed tissue immune" processes, but they aid in formation of antibodies, they help fight any foreign materials in our body and they may be helpful in fighting certain tumors. We have a very complex and effective system to help combat disease and they are a big part.

Why do lymph nodes swell up?

Why do lymph nodes swell up?

Immune System HQ: The lymph nodes can be thought of as outposts for white blood cells. When there is an infection or inflammation in the area where a lymph node is draining fluid from, the white blood cells start to build up to fight it. This causes swelling in that node.
