My child who is 18 months old have been suffering from high fever with runing nose, I m from pakistan, so kindly tel me such medicines which are here.
Water: I cannot tell you what medicine is necessary without a proper diagnosis. A fever is not a diagnosis, it is a symptom. My main concern with a fever is maintaining proper hydration. You do this with lots of liquids. The primary liquid you do it with is water.. For a more specific treatment, you will need to see a doctor. ...Read more
More info: How high is the temperature and how did you take it? How old is the child, are they in day care or otherwise exposed, who else in family is ill. If new symptoms develop email us back and will try to help. Hope they are better soon. ...Read more
What does it mean if your child has very green diaria, he has been sick for the past 5 days with high fever.?
Can you please describe the effects (when you become an adult) of having had a high fever when you are a child?
Nothing specific: Decades ago it was common to attribute learning difficulties or deafness to high fever in childhood. As research on kids has progressed, most deafness has been linked to other causes and learning difficulties linked to inherited factors. Meningitis or encephalitis, with or without high fever did have complications. Most kids with high fever grow up with no long term effects. ...Read more
What do you suggest if my child had a high fever for 3 days then after fever left she got a rash all over what could it be?
Roseola: This sounds like a classic description of roseola. It is a viral childhood disease that usually peaks in incidence in the summer months, but can happen any time of year. Pretty much it's as you describe. A few days of fever, then fever breaks and rash appears. Rash resolves within a week. Once rash appears, child no longer contagious. Usually kids get it before age 3. ...Read more
My child is about 6 years old and has had 3 days of high fever, plus he is complaining of calf pain and being hard to walk.?
What would be the most common medical problems that would have a child coughing up blood and have a high fever?
Pedialyte: Oral electrolyte fluids, like pedialyte, will replenish not only the liquids lost though vomiting, but also the electrolytes. The key to success is small amounts frequently-give 1-2 tsp every ten minutes for one hour, if no vomiting, increase to 3 tsp every ten minutes, advancing as tolerated. ...Read more
I have been using diclofenac Na supp for my son since he was one year old for high fever according to Dr advice, have I caused my child any harm?
Complex: We start treatment on our infants who have fever or the mother has an infection/fever. There are supporting tests (complete blood count and c-reactive protein) that may support but not prove infection. The gold standard is the blood culture that takes 48 hrs to come back (+ or -). Regardless of all that the physician must make a clinical decision about how long to treat the infantbased on these &. ...Read more
What would cause reoccuring sickness in child: high fever, nasal/chest cong. Seems to come on about every 6wks. Neg for strep/flu. Seasonal allergies?
Not allergies: Allergies would not cause fever. I would want to know the following: how old is the child? How long has this been going on? Any other lab work, specifically a blood count? Any other symptoms, such as swollen glands, sores in the mouth, rashes, joint swelling? How high is the fever? Recurrent fevers of unknown origin are sometimes referred to pediatric infectious disease specialists. ...Read more
9 years child with high fever for 4 days and a very serious rash that doesn't itch+white color throat. Is the rash dangerous?
See doctor: It is important to have your child tested for strep throat (which can lead to a sorethroat, rash and fever). Strep throat should be treated with an antibiotic to reduce risk of secondary complications. Rash and fever may be viral; however, without an exam it is impossible to say for certain. Take care. ...Read more
My child has been sick for a week with high fever and hurting in her throat the dr done a test for streap and it was negative what could it be?
Virus, other bacteria: First, if a throat culture was not done, there is a slim chance it still could be strep. The rapid test misses 1-2 out of every 100 tested. Would ask for full throat culture to see if any other bacteria is the culprit. Also consider viruses like EBV (the cause of mono, in kids can cause intense sore throat), influenza (still a few cases still going around), or other viruses-depends on age of child ...Read more
My 4 yr old child has been having a very high fever. I would like to alternate acetaminophen and ibuprofen. How far apart should they be taken?
Busy work: When a kids fever is not responding to either Acetaminophen or Ibuprofen separately it is unlikely to do so if you alternate them. It does give you something to do, but I don't advise the pattern & I never wake a kid for either med. Concentrate of fluid needs & make the dpc aware of the illness. More kids are hospitalized for dehydration than fever. ...Read more
Roseola?: Without actually seeing the rash and examining the baby, it is very difficult to say for sure what the rash is. However, in a baby less than 2, if they've had fever for a couple of days and then when the fever breaks develop fine red rash, sounds like roseola (also known as 'baby measles'). If it doesn't fade n next few days, or there are other associated symptoms, then need to see your peds doc. ...Read more

My baby is 3 1/2 weeks old, im concerned because he started coughing but doesn't have a high fever. Should I be worried?
My baby of 9 months gets fever of 39.2 in the night. Neurofen breaks it. No other symptoms, and only mild fever during day. Can teething cause such high fever? What could cause fever that worsens at night? Woke up last 2 night between 1&2 with the fever
Ibuprofen cautiously: >100 different infections could be causing the fever so there is no way to answer your question, but... Most of the infections are common colds etc. Give Ibuprofen - dose depends on child's weight. Fever itself is not harmful rather the underlying cause. 2% can have seizures. See md if acting very sick, if breathing hard/funny, crying excessively, dehydrated, excessively sleepy, stiff neck etc. ...Read more
