Yes: Some polyps are fibroids and are referred to as pedunculated. Some polyps are from the lining of the uterus. Fibroids are almost never cancerous other polyps may or may not be. Only way to tell the difference is to take them out and sent to the pathologist. ...Read more

Fibroids: I am not sure why you were suggested to have ultrasound repeated. I would assume that there may have been either incomplete visualization or the radiologist wanted to make sure it is not something else. Talk to the ordering doc and ask him that question.
