Stromectol For Treatment Of Scabies
Is stromectol (ivermectin) a good treatment for scabies and how would i dose it if i weigh 200lbs? I was thinking of buying some online.
If I treat myself with ivermectin scabies treatment and wash everything tomorrow such as clothes, sheets...won't I just get reinfected from new mites?
Scabies: If you have taken care of any contaminated bedding and clothing and have treated yourself the answer should be no. The scabies can not live without a blood food after two to three days. Treated for scabies 30 hrs ago with po Ivermectin. I sanitized EVERYTHING. Just broke out w/ new itchy red bumps. Does this mean treatment failed?
My derm can't tell if I have atypical scabies or atopical dermatitis.I get relief but not cure from oral ivermectin and oral immuran, please help?
Hard to tell: It's hard to tell without examination. If you have (or your family) asthma, hayfever history and ezema in your childhood, the eczema you have now might be atopic dermatitis. However, if you live in a dorm, share bed with some one, and they happen to have similar itching problem, you might have scabies. Itching from scabies may linger for months after "cure". Atopic dermatitis comes and goes. ...Read more
I am taking ivermectin and applying crotamiton cream on my whole body to cure scabies. When can I drink alcohol after taking the ivermectin?
Can be: First line therapy for scabies is a topical scabicide. Ivermectin (stromectol) is an oral anti-parasitic agent which has been used to treat scabies but is not fda-approved for this use and is considered second line therapy in severe cases or in patients who cannot tolerate topical agents. ...Read more
I continue having new outbreaks, 44hrs after taking po Ivermectin for mild scabies, is this normal? Or does this mean tx has failed/isn't effective?
Consider the process: The break out of scabies develops with an immune reaction to the debris left by the living mite in its burrows. Once you kill the mite, it may take a few weeks for the intense itching and bodily reaction to fade, because the drug does not remove the triggering material form your body. I would give it some time before I consider it a failure. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
I was prescribed ivermectin 3mg tablets for 12 days to treat scabies. Can i use some type of otc topical cream for the itch?
Yes: This medication can be combined with an oral steroid. Start with 1% hydrocortisone - mix a good portion with an eczema cream and spread over affected areas within 3 minutes after shower/bath. See your MD for alternative prescription strength creams if this is not helpful. Itch will stop when the body absorbs the dead mite from the skin. http://www.webmd.com/skin-problems-and-treatments/ss/slideshow-scabies-overview ...Read more
Does ivermectin kill all the scabies I have on my body ? And how do I convince my family to treat themselves and the house ?
YES: Treatment requires a prescription, typically of a topical medication such as: permethrins, crotamiton, or lindane . Ivermectin's use in scabies is effective but is "off label" ( ie. Not an fda approved indication). Convincing the family will be easy but space limitations can't do justice to this topic- go to the cdc website for the best answer-http://www.Cdc.Gov/parasites//scabies/. ...Read more
Is it possible to have scabies after 4months, w/multi doses of Ivermectin, to be reinfected/still have it..but not have gave it to husband or 2 sons?
Need details: How many doses??? Standard is 2------TWO. Were your husband and son treated AT THE SAME TIME???? It is necessary to treat everyone in the home, EVERYONE, including those without symptoms. If they were not treated you would be reinfested. Were you treated with permethrum? Are you sure it is scabies? What was the source? If you have not yet seen a dermatologist, now is a good time. ...Read more
