What are some natural stress relief supplements worth trying?

What are some natural stress relief supplements worth trying?

Several: Mindfulness-based stress reduction is an option whose effectiveness depends on your personal practice rather than the vagaries of an herb or pharmaceutical. That said, magnesium; kava (except for some concerns about liver function); theanine; lemon balm; passion flower, etc may all be worth trying -- as well as bach flower essences. Stress (Definition)

Stress affects most people in some way. Acute (sudden, short-term) stress leads to rapid changes throughout the body. Almost all body systems (the heart and blood vessels, immune system, lungs, digestive system, sensory organs, and brain) gear up to meet perceived danger. Chronic (long-term) stress can have real health consequences and should be addressed like any other health concern. Fortunately, research is showing that lifestyle changes and stress-reduction techniques can help people learn ...Read more

Safe, worth a try but: GABA is a neurotransmitter that is calming. Alcohol and drugs like Valium bind to GABA receptors. However, it does not readily cross the blood-brain barrier so one has to take high doses (about 1000 mg) to see much benefit. There is little research on it but it is safe to try. Other supps like L-Theanine, Holy Basil, Magnesium, Ashwagandha and 5-HTP may help more. See http://tinyurl. Com/ypz6a ...Read more
