On round 2 of zpack for strep. 2 small white spots on throat otherwise red throat. Not cultured on 2nd trip. Could it be viral?
Viral?: Viral infections are generally self-limited, lasting an average of 3 to 5 days before resolving on their own. See a doctor: White spots on the tonsils could mean strep throat, but not necessarily. It could be a virus, and either one could cuase laryngitis with loss of voice. There are other less common infections as well that could do this. But if strep, you definitely need to know in order to get an antibiotic prescription. See your doctor ASAP. Good luck! ...Read more

Tonsils swell and have white spots everytime I get a cold. Strep test comes back sometimes positive and other times negative. Is this normal?
