Went to doctor for stomach pain, felt like I was going to puke all day, fever, chills, and sore throat. Diagnosed with GERD though. I think it's strep?

Pain in right side of throat when swallowing - I have GERD due to hiatal hernia leading to chronic pharyngitis (although have never felt sore throat)?
Partial Rx GERD: I suspect the discomfort is related to your partially treated GERD. You are already taking Nexium (esomeprazole) and using Nasonex. Other non-drug treatments include not smoking, avoiding trigger foods, avoiding large meals, not lying down for 2 hours after eating, elevating head of bed, losing weight, avoiding tight belts, and chewing gum. If you have tried all these, review with doc alternate drug treatmentSee 1 more doctor answer

Depends: Streptococcus pyogenes, the bacteria behind strep throat is naturally colonized in some folks. When it is actually infecting you, that is, provoking an immune response in you, it can produce significant problems if left unchecked including rheumatic fever and subsequent heart valve disease later.See 1 more doctor answer
Throat infection: "strep" throat is an infection of the throat or tonsils caused by a type of bacteria called group a streptococcus. Usually not: This germ is in the mucous secretions of the carriers. They might be able to cough a few out, but they would dry out soon & die. Most pick it up through casual contact. Person A puts fingers in mouth, touches doorknob painting it with strep. Person B opens door and eventually touches face/mouth, completing the pass. It is much less contagious than chickenpox, where a cough is common + airborne spread
Two steps: Step one: proper diagnosis= quick strep test with high accuracy step two: take your medicine on schedule you will not be contagous after 24hrs on meds but you need to finish them. Comfort measures including ibuprofen, throat sprays or lossenges can also help.
No you will not if y: If you have been diagnosed with sterp throat you have to be treatedc with ba full course of antibiotics for 10 days to prevent scarlet fever, acute nephritis, rheumatic fever and spread of infection to ears, sinuses, lungs etc if you treat properly you will not bhave any problems.See 1 more doctor answer

Use of antibiotics can reduce symptoms and the patient is considered non-contagious within 24 hours. Gargle with warm salt water. Drink plenty of water. ?: Unsure what you mean with your question. If you mean it's prodrome (early presentation), the symptoms can widely vary and group a beta-hemolytic strep can masquerade as a lot of other illnesses. However, sore throat, sometimes fevers, frontal headache, stomach ache, vomiting and nausea, sandpapery rash are all seen.
Several: Sore throat, usually fever, a whittish covering over the tonsils, a fetid or foul breath, red spots on the soft part of the upper back of the throat, painful swallowing, enlarged tonsils, enlarged uvulae. Perhaps a rash (sandpaper like) over the body and enlarged lymph nodes. You may have strep and not notice it so much. It can be mild. If suspected, get tested and treated.See 1 more doctor answer
Need antibiotics: For significant sore throat with swollen tonsils / lymph nodes – see physician & get a streph throat test. If you have streph throat, antibiotic therapy is imperative to prevent future compications. Consider tylenol (acetaminophen) or nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory medications. Saltwater gargles: mix 1 tsp salt in 8 oz warm water – gargle several times a day. Or gargle with aloe vera juice twice a day.
Symptoms or + tests: There are people that carry strep A year round and will always have a positive rapid test or culture. Blood studies usually show the body is not reacting to the germ. When they come in with a viral sore throat, most treat it as strep. If you are a carrier, it is a bother, but requires no treatment. If you get repeated strep illness, there are combinations of meds that can help stop it.
1st Sx will: Strep throat goes through several phases. The acute symptoms will eventually fade in most without rx. During the sub-acute phase, the body continues to make antibodies and a fraction (1/200) develop long term complications including kidney damage, heart damage (rheumatic fever) and brain injury.Antibiotics can stop the complications if started within ~10 days of first fever.See 1 more doctor answer
Strep carrier: People who are strep 'carriers' are colonized with the bacteria in their throats and intermittently can be symptom free. People who have recurrent sore throats and positive Rapid Strep swabs might want to be checked for this by having a throat culture performed when no symptoms are present.
