How does strattera (atomoxetine) calm you down exactly? And why is it decreasing my appetite? I know these are its effects, but i want to know why and how ?

See PCP first.: Strattera ( atomoxetine) is a medication used for add/adhd. The exact mechanism is not known about how it actually works but has a calming effect from they hyperactivity of adhd. One of the common side-effects is loss of appetite, dizziness , insomnia among others. They also caution about suicidal thoughts. See your pcp/psychiatrist if it is dose related. ...Read more

It can: No medication works all the time. Strattera (atomoxetine) was the first fda-endorsed non-stimulant for adhd. Its benefits are quite similar to those for stimulants; but, it works about for about 40-45% of patients, rather than 65% or more for stimulants. Also, unlike stimulants, it does not work nearly as fast: can take 4-6 weeks or more of daily use before benefits appear--but provides 24 coverage. ...Read more

Can a psychatrist prescribe strattera (atomoxetine) doses higher than 100 mgs to a fat & tall person as off-label ? Are 120 mgs too much to a fast metabolizer ?

I've been prescribed strattera (atomoxetine) it works but i'm tired all the time.

Take at night?: I guess your choices are to lower your dose or start taking it at bedtime. Often times, patients get used to the side effects over time. No: With this combination, you could cause yourself increased anxiety, shakiness, tachycardia, increased bp, etc -- all the symptoms of having too much stimulation from the combination of norepinephrine and caffeine.
