If Zofran (ondansetron) caused QTc prolongation, would QT int. Go back to normal after stopping the medication? Or is this a permanent change?

If Zofran (ondansetron) caused QTc prolongation, would QT int. Go back to normal after stopping the medication? Or is this a permanent change?

BACK TO NORMAL: Ondansetron (Zofran) primarily blocks potassium channels, prolonging the QT interval, but these changes are acute, transient and reversible. Concern was for IV formulation in doses higher than 16 mg.

Is Zofran (ondansetron) 4mg safe if you have a healthy heart? How long after stopping the drug (i took one dose) does the risk for cardiac issues cease?

Is Zofran (ondansetron) 4mg safe if you have a healthy heart? How long after stopping the drug (i took one dose) does the risk for cardiac issues cease?

Ondansetron: Zofran (ondansetron) in doses greater than 16 mg at a time has been implicated in prolonging the qt interval. This effect would last for a few hours while the drug was in the system. A single 4 mg dose does not carry this risk.

What are some medicines to stop nausea? I tried Zofran (ondansetron) but it doesn't work.

See details: Has the problem been thoroughly evaluated medically? Have you seen a gastroenterologist? Establish the cause first.

Does Zofran (ondansetron) cause withdrawal symptoms if you stop taking it after being on it for 20 months?

Zofran (ondansetron) for nausea: If you stop a medicine for nausea, most likely you will experience a rebound effect after stopping the medication. Zofran (ondansetron) does not produce tolerance, therefore there will be not discontinuation syndrome or physical withdrawal if not taken anymore. Hopefully the cause for the nausea has disappeared and stopping zofran (ondansetron) will not cause any problems.

I've been taking zofran for about 2 years because lexapro (escitalopram) makes me sick. Can I stop zofran or do I have to taper off? 4mg 2x's a day. How do I taper?

I've been taking zofran for about 2 years because lexapro (escitalopram) makes me sick. Can I stop zofran or do I have to taper off? 4mg 2x's a day. How do I taper?

Lexapro (escitalopram): Should be tapered to minimize withdrawal symptoms. Sometimes switching to low dose Prozac (fluoxetine) helps with the discontinuation symptoms. Any change in antidepressant therapy should've done under physician supervision.

How long does Buspar (buspirone) 5 mg 3xs day stay in your system. My last does was last night I only took for 6 days. My dr said to stop. When can I take zofran

How long does Buspar (buspirone) 5 mg 3xs day stay in your system. My last does was last night I only took for 6 days. My dr said to stop. When can I take zofran

Buspar/clearance: Under ordinary circumstances, the Buspirone should clear in 12-24 hrs, although traces could be detected in urine (if we could test). I don't believe there would be any interference if you are or not on Zofran (ondansetron).

Took Zofran (ondansetron) and had temp blurred vision but it went away. What usually causes the blurred vision, and if it went away and I stop meds, should I worry?

Took Zofran (ondansetron) and had temp blurred vision but it went away. What usually causes the blurred vision, and if it went away and I stop meds, should I worry?

Possible drug effect: While blurred vision is not a listed side effect of Zofran (ondansetron), (ondansetron) uncommon side-effects can occur with any medicine. The fact that the blurred vision went away when you stopped the drug suggests that the drug caused it. The only way to prove that would be to restart Zofran (ondansetron) and see if it recurs. The best recommendation is to avoid Zofran (ondansetron) altogether.

Does zofran (ondansetron) stop nausea from panic attacks?

Does zofran (ondansetron) stop nausea from panic attacks?

It can: Yes, the medication can short-circuit nausea and vomiting due to panic attacks. Better solution might be to reduce the panic attacks themselves either entirely or by intensity and frequency. Then, Zofran (ondansetron) becomes a non-issue.

Does zofran (ondansetron) stop/prevent all nausea? I.e. reflux, medications, virus, etc.

Does zofran (ondansetron) stop/prevent all nausea? I.e. reflux, medications, virus, etc.

Great medicine: Zofran (ondansetron) is very safe works sensually, meaning via the central nervous system, and works on as far as I know, all types of nausea. Nausea that persists should be evaluated for other diseases that may be more serious than a simple minor gastrointestinal virus

I'd toddlers are throwing up 3xs p/day or more but no fever or other symptoms what can I do to make it stop? Er.Dr says its a stomachvurus gave Zofran (ondansetron)

I'd toddlers are throwing up 3xs p/day or more but no fever or other symptoms what can I do to make it stop? Er.Dr says its a stomachvurus gave Zofran (ondansetron)

Vomiting toddler: If er doctor has examined the child and did not find any other evidence of infection anywhere else and the abdominal exam was normal, then a tetative diagnosis of a viral ifection is correct. It should be treated with fluod replacement with electrolyte solution and other apprpriate fluids and in cases where vomiting is continuing then a short course of Zofran (ondansetron) for not more then 24 hours is appropiate.

Would Zofran be able to stop vomiting caused by severe menstruation cramps?

Exam: Please see your MD for a full history and physical. Ondansetron 4mg IM would be helpful in that situation but don't diagnose yourself. Get a full exam including a serum pregnancy test and rule out important causes of secondary dysmenorrhea like appendicitis, ectopic pregnancy, and ovarian cysts or torsion. Birth control is also helpful in the treatment of dysmenorrhea. Http://tinyurl. Com/hdjxks6

I have been throwing up non-stop for 24 hours. Not pregnant. No other symptoms. Huge migraine, shaking and dizzy. What can I do? Took zofran (ondansetron).

I have been throwing up non-stop for 24 hours. Not pregnant. No other symptoms. Huge migraine, shaking and dizzy. What can I do? Took zofran (ondansetron).

See a physican ASAP: If you have been throwing up continuously for 24 hours, you need to see a physician quickly to find the underlying cause. Make sure you keep yourself hydrated and get electrolytes in you as well. Fluid solution with sugar & slight salt will help you retain more water in your system. Store bought gatorade will also do the trick. Hope you feel better soon. Go to the er and get help.

Can children take motric and Zofran (ondansetron) together?

Motrin? Yes, maybe: Zofran prevents vomiting, and Motrin treats fever and pain, so technically they can be taken together. However, Motrin can irritate an already sensitive stomach, so I personally would use tylenol (acetaminophen) in a patient who needs zofran.
