I take Adderall 10mg i'm doing good on it except i can't sleep geodon (ziprasidone) 60mg isn't working anymore what's a good sleep medicine that will work quickly?

Depends : From your information it looks as if you been diagnosed with more than just adhd and that the insomnia preceded the use of adderall (dextroamphetamine and racemic amphetamine). In general that low dose taken in the am does not usually cause sleep issues in an adult although it might aggravate existing issues. It is also contraindicated to be taking the additional meds you have listed at the same time. Need visit with provider. ...Read more

Will stopping geodon (ziprasidone) kick off a psychotic episode? I seem to think geodon (ziprasidone) is the most dangerous of antipsychotics because it makes one more psychotic?

Will stopping geodon (ziprasidone) kick off a psychotic episode? I seem to think geodon (ziprasidone) is the most dangerous of antipsychotics because it makes one more psychotic?

It could: Depending on what kind of illness you have, stopping Geodon (ziprasidone) could risk a psychotic episode. I'm not sure why you think Geodon (ziprasidone) is the most dangerous of antipsychotics, or that it makes one more psychotic. Like other antipsychotics, at high enough dose it can cause restlessness/akathisia -- which sometimes may feel like a psychosis, but isn't. Please discuss these concerns w/your own psychiatrist. ...Read more

I am on zyprexa and I just stopped geodon after two weeks on both meds. Now I have akathisia from stopping geodon. Will I get better if I just zyprexa?

Side effects of meds: As is sometimes said, even in these God awful times, God only knows! The drugs that you take have akasthisia as a well known potential side effect. That is why in medicine we commonly use the phrase risk-benefit- I.e. what are the risks of this course of action compared to the hoped for benefits. Sometimes it is not so obvious as to what course is best to follow, sometimes more so, but no action I ...Read more

Didn't have schizophrenia before but developed after stopping geodon (ziprasidone)? Isit a paradoxical reaction?Psychiatrist is prophetic? Prodomal? How?Imbalance

Natural history.: Sounds like natural progression of the disease. Geodon (ziprasidone) is an atypical antipsychotic fda approved for schizophrenia / bipolar d/o. You may not have had a clear diagnosis prior to the medication, but the diagnosis has become apparent with time. Geodon (ziprasidone) does not cause scizophrenia. ...Read more

Can i develop parkinsons, ms, tardive dyskinesia or huntingtons after stopping geodon (ziprasidone) and risperdal adding up to a year. Are my dopamine levels normal?

Can i develop parkinsons, ms, tardive dyskinesia or huntingtons after stopping geodon (ziprasidone) and risperdal adding up to a year. Are my dopamine levels normal?

Some side effects: Geodon (ziprasidone) and Risperdal are in the class of medications known as neuroleptics. While taking these, patients can sometimes develop symptoms similar to parkinson disease, and can develop tardive dyskinesia. Ms and huntington disease are not related. The symptoms of parkinsonism can take a year or more to fully resolve, and the improvement of tardive dyskinesia is variable. ...Read more

What can I use for sleep after stopping trazodone? Previously on geodon, (ziprasidone) risperdal, klonopin, ativan, melatonin. At this point believe brain wont cbt

Some alternatives: I don't understand the meaning of your last sentence; does it mean you have tried insomnia-directed cbt (as well as attention to sleep hygiene) but it hasn't worked? Sleep aids you didn't mentioned include rozerem, (ramelteon) doxepin, and various otc herbal mixtures. Also, withdrawal from some of the meds you mentioned could interfere with sleep. And, i'm assuming you aren't using alcohol in the evenings. ...Read more

Will geodon (ziprasidone) taken twice a day work for stopping hearing voices? I am only on once a day and the voices are not going anywhere.

No one can predict: What you need to do is talk to the Dr about the effects of geodon (ziprasidone). If it's good except for this, they might add more - or they could switch or combine with another drug. I also urge you to consider a good experienced therapist to help you manage the voices if possible. Some techniques can be successful to remove the worst of it at least. I hope this helps - don't change dose on your own though! ...Read more

I used to sleep fine before geodon (ziprasidone) but ever since stopping it sleep has been impossible. Is my brain damaged? Howcan they prescribe this stuff

Not brain damaged: Geodon (ziprasidone) does not cause insomnia, and it should not damage your brain in a way to cause insomnia. You may be experiencing insomnia related to the condition for which you were prescribed the medication. For example, Geodon (ziprasidone) is often presribed for bipolar depression, and bipolar depression often can cause inability to sleep. Don't worry, your brain is not damaged by the medication. ...Read more

I read of people recovering after antidepressants. Will I recover after geodon (ziprasidone) for psychosis? It has made me weak even after stopping. No sleep either

Yes: It takes a while for any medication to get completely out of your system but I am not aware of any lasting side effects from geodon (ziprasidone). I would be more concerned about recurrence of the psychosis. Please consult with your prescribing doctor ...Read more
