Sounds like a sprain: Need to take a break from treadmill. Air cast might help.!ice it 15 min 3 times a day for 15in for 3 days then change to heat. How bad is pain?: Crutches are used when you have an unstable injury (broken bone/ligament injury) and to help pain. Without an exam it's hard to say what you need; but without fracture or internal derangement of knee ligaments I tell patients who use crutches to do "toe touch weight bearing". In other words put as much weight on hurt leg as you comfortably can while walking on crutches to speed healing. ...Read more
