Yes: Would make sure he has been burped well and hold him upright for 30 minutes after his feed. Follow his voiding and stooling closely. If he is not peeing and pooing then you should have him checked at the doctor. If it is projectile(across the room) or pine green i would have him evaluated immediately. ...Read more

It gets easier with: Time to interpret your baby's cries. Unfortunately, when babies cry they swallow air. The smooth muscle of the intestine isn't synchronized yet to pass the air out. If baby seems gag when starting to nurse, he may need a burp. I'll ask my arabic-speaking daughter to help explain the " football hold" or "colic carry" to you to help baby pass gas. Vomiting in aNa baby: Newborn babies spit up a little bit after feeding or during burping, if he is vomiting a a lot , if projectile, after ea feeding, if fussy & not gaining weight please take him to his pediatrician to help find out the cause of his vomiting, wheather he needs a different formula or he has more serious issues like pylori stenosis, reflux disease, metabolic diseases & so on. CHOI: Newborn vomiting is serious. You live in a city with a fantastic Children's Hospital - Children's Hospital of Illinois. You go there to the ER now. A newborn who is truly vomiting could have intestinal obstruction from guts turned the wrong way, could have infection, could have food intolerance. Some things not so serious, some things deadly. Vomiting: Spitting up a little bit with burping is normal, but vomiting of entire feeding or projectile vomiting is not & requires immediate medical attention by the pediatrician or ER. Always burp the baby several times during feeding, hold the baby up for few minutes & gently tap or rub his back until he burps, avoid over feeding & don't feed too soon or every time the baby cries. Trouble breathing : If your baby is vomiting & has trouble breathing you should take baby to ER ASAP, he probably choked while vomiting, from gastroesophageal reflux or any other causes of vomiting.
