What does it mean when stool in dark brown on the outside and light brown on the inside?

It might..: It might be completely normal depending on what you ate. However, we would need to know what other symptoms you are presenting. If the stool turns black or has blood, mucus on it it would need further evaluation. If otherwise you are healthy I would just make sure that you eat plenty of fiber (fruits and vegetables), low fat diet in order to produce a healthy bowel movement. ...Read more

Help! My stool is brown with white bits in it. Cheap tp?

Stool w/ white bits: Mucus discharge occurs in up to 50% of patients with irritable bowel syndrome, with or without pain. Mucus may also be produced in response to partial obstruction, chronic constipation, rectal dysfunction, infection, & even from secretory villous tumors of the rectum. At the very least stool studies should help address if mucus white bits you're seeing are "worms" (pinworms, etc.) so rx can begin. ...Read more

Morning of my colonoscopy. Followed vowel prep the t, yet watery stool is brown. Doc said if it's watery don't worry but I heard it can't be brown?

It can be brown: A 'perfect' bowel prep for a colonoscopy does result in watery stool which are clear. However, people are different. A prep may not clear all the stool or color.
Actual feces may prevent the physician from seeing a polyp covered with stool.
However, brown watery stool can be suctioned and the bowel wall properly examined. It will probably be ok. .. The exam is important. Please doo.

Greenish brown stool with black splotches/dots when wiping for the past week. Stool looks brown when I look at overall colour. Cause+when will it stop?

~1wk: Green/brown is likely either infection or your normal bacteria being thrown off by antibiotics or something you ate.
Black splotches without pain aren't concerning. Blood or worsening black stools is concerning.
I'm assuming you have no other symptoms so it will likely take about a week to clear, eat a bland diet. ...Read more

Could you name a disease for each tipe of stool? - Greenish-brown stools; - Greenish-black and sticky; - Pinkish-red; - Bright green. Thanks a lot!

Get measurements: Make sure you are not taking iron to compensate for blood loss. We do not lose iron unless we are bleeding. So once we ruled-out blood loss, get your serum iron & ferritin levels measured because too much iron can cause oxidation, liver disease and heart disaese. You don't want to become overloaded with too much iron. ...Read more

Help! Stool dark brown - not black, definitely, but dark. Bits of food in it. Dullpain in lower right quadrant that I think is muscular, but not sure.

Don't panic, but...: Dark-colored stools may result from iron supplements, foods you eat (like a lot of spinach), substances (like peptobismol), but most significantly suggests bleeding. When blood is denatured by acid in your stomach, as from ulcers, stools will turn tarry ("melena"). Blood may also be ingested from nose bleeds, bleeding gums. Silver-colored stool suggests bleeding from the biliary tree. Get checked. ...Read more

What could cause white specks in stool? They're very small, almost like seeds or bits of feta cheese. Rest of stool is brown.

Probably not feta: Feta cheese would not look the same coming out, but sesame and other small seeds do look almost identical in your stool.
