25 weeks pregnant, stool color changed from brown to yellowish and softer 10 days ago. Any risk for baby's or pregnancy health? What should I do?

Pretty common: The color in stool is the breakdown product of the bile when it has not been in the gut long enough to go through a change from green thru yellow to brown. It is normal as is the loose consistency. Some digested material will take on a darker tint than others & the germs in the gut will also impact the final product. I'd ignore the whole issue. It is not a risk for baby. ...Read more

Stool color is grey. Help! Please?

Stool color is grey. Help! Please?

Stop worrying: Stool color reflects what you've been eating: fatty or not fatty, high or low fiber, plant or animal, etc. Etc. The two colors that worry me most are black (bleeding in the stomach) or red (bleeding in the intestines). If you feel good and there have been no changes in your health, relax. If you don't feel good and your health has changed, then stool color might be a clue. See your doctor. ...Read more

What color is the stool color in a child with rotovirus?

What color is the stool color in a child with rotovirus?

Varies: The color depends on diet and bile output during the illness. I have seen blue poop from blue Popsicles or Gatorade. They can be almost clear mucous to brownish water, but very frequently are a beige/creamy white. The hallmark is the horrible smell that goes along with rotavirus - I can walk in a room and tell a baby in there has the illness. ...Read more

Can any doctor post what abnormal stool color it looks like?

No: There is no 'normal'. Stool colon depends on what you eat. In particular, red meat, chocolate, and forms of indigestible fiber, as well as supplements (such as iron) can change the color of stool. Blood in the stool is always abnormal, and should be investigated. But aside from this, there is no true 'normal color stool'. ...Read more

Since three weeks I removed gallbladder, stool color was normal dark color recently I noticed the stool is light color near yellow. Is it normal?

Biliary stricture?: If the liver is unable to get bile into your intestine, it can cause you to have pale or yellow stools. Bile is what makes stools brown. This can sometimes occur after gallbladder surgery which can cause the bile ducts to narrow and cause a stricture. Sometimes stents are needed to open the ducts back up and allow free-flowing bile. See your surgeon if this continues to be a problem for follow up. ...Read more
