Stomach Wall Hernia
Uncertain: If the pain is directly over the hernia, it is likely related to the hernia, and you should see a general surgeon for a consultation. If the hernia was repaired, and that's where the pain is, it should gradually improve over the course of 2-6 weeks depending on the type of repair and your response to operation. Hope this helps! ...Read more
Are there exercises which strengthens the abdominal wall and which can help against developing a hernia in first place?
No: Many people with strong abdominal muscles get hernias, and many people with weaker muscles don't have hernias. There is most likely a genetic predisposition to hernia formation based on the types of connective tissue that any given individual has. Keep exercising though, its great for lots of other things! ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
If there was hernia present in the testicle, wouldn't I be in pain? Wouldn't I feel pain in the abdomen if intestine goes through ab wall?
Not necessarily: You are likely describing an inguinal hernia, with bowel and fat contents herniating through abdomen into inguinal canal and sometimes into the scrotum. You may feel a bulge when performing heavy lifting, but typically a small hernia may not be painful at all. Extreme pain would only happen if the hernia twists on itself, which could cause bowel obstruction and a surgical emergency. ...Read more
What should I do to repair my para-umbilical hernia itself naturally , and what time it requires to repair 2 to 3 CM hole in internal abdomen wall ?
SurgeryOnlyOption: Umbilical hernias may be easily repaired under general anesthesia as an out-patient. Depending on the size of the hernia and other patient-factors, we often advise using mesh to close the hole (like patching a tire). I advise hernia repair if it is causing symptoms that are interfering with one's quality of life, or if the hole is so large that there is the potential for intestine to get stuck. ...Read more

Is loosing weight initially associated with early symptom of ingenuial hernia? When abdominal wall weakens does blood test show anything?
Hernias: Hernias can protrude with weight loss. The fat that was plugging the opening may shrink and allow fat or abdominal organs to protrude. You should start with a physical exam to see if your hernia can be felt. A general surgeon or general internist can examine you. If it is small, an ultrasound or ct scan can image the hernia. Blood tests will not help. ...Read more

Increased risk: Abdominal wall hernias are repaired to prevent bowel from becoming stuck (incarcerated) in the hernia. Blood flow can become compromised, intestinal blockages and pain also occur. Larger hernias are safer then smaller ones. Each time a hernia is repaired the chance of success goes down. Weigh loss, smoking cessation, exercise, and good nutrition can improve your outcome. You have to weigh options ...Read more

Its said MRI is good in evaluating soft tissues in pelvis. So can it be used 2 diagnose weakness of abdominal wall in advance that can lead 2 hernia?
Can't predict : While there may be a weakness there, there is currently no information about the likelihood this will become a hernia. I advise patients with a weakness only to carry on about there lives without restriction or worry. I havehad a nissen and hiatal hernia surgery then an abdominal wall reconstruction with surgical mesh then an abdominal wall reconstruction with pig?
Pig - yes: I can't tell from your description the exact mesh or where it was placed. But generally speaking, there are biologic mesh products, some of which are derived from pigs (porcine mesh). Porcine mesh products are processed such that all the cells are washed away, and only the underlying matrix remains. Thus, the risk of adverse reactions from the mesh are very low and the products are very safe. ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers
