Probably not...: Air used to inflate your colon & permit inspection during the colonoscopy procedure may persist for several hours. Post polypectomy syndrome can occur at sites of electrocautery. Microperforations, colon abrasions, laceration or trauma to adjacent solid organs may not be readily apparent at onset. Fever, bleeding, abdominal tenderness, weakness, vomiting are worrisome signs. Yes: While performing the endoscopic exam AIR is introduced to dilate and then properly observe the lining of your upper gastrointestinal tract! It takes a while for this gas to pass! 4 days is absolutely normal..a week maximal after that consult with the endoscopist! Hope this helps! Dr Z ...Read more

Not indicated: If you had endoscopy 5 months ago and did not show anything except positive test for H Pylori.As long as you have been treated for the H Pylori with full course of Antibiotics,you don't need to have a repeat endoscopy.Bloating and acid issue can be treated with Acid suppresser therapy with drugs like Omeprazole or Ranitidine.Talk to your Doctor ...Read more

Probably not serious: If you have had any fever, blood in the diarrhea, faint feeling, or significant weight loss you should see a physician. Depending on where you live and have traveled recently, a parasitic infection is a possibility. Make sure you are well hydrated. If it continues you made need a stool analysis for parasites or empiric treatment depending on your location. ...Read more
