Better questions...: Ask your child: in what position do you feel better/ worse? What is the quality of pain--sharp, stabbing, pressure, bloating, gassiness? Where in your abdomen (right, mid, left) do you experience discomfort? Duration pain lasts? Is pain deep or superficial? Have you seen blood with stool or change in bowels? Concentrate on finding cause ; cure, not just symptom control--get him/her to doctor. ...Read more
Gave my child first dose of zyrtek last night and today at noon he started to get stomach pain and vomited, could this be related to the medicine?
Yes: Pain from appendicitis can be initially central or periumbilical. The it moves down to the right lower quadrant. It can be associated with nausea and vomiting that fails to improve after 24 hours like most flus. In children there be loss of appetite. In small children who are walking and then refuse to walk and want to be carried, beware and think of appendicitis. ...Read more
It depends: It depends on what is causing the stomach pain. If they have a stomach virus with vomiting or diarrhea, the best thing to do is give small frequent amounts of clear fluids, such as pedialyte, with light foods (such as the brat diet- bananas, rice, applesauce, toast) for a few days to let the stomach virus run its course. If pain is severe or persists, see a doctor. ...Read more

Child has lower stomach pain. Hurts to move and touch. Urine dip said high white blood count and culture had no growth what could be wrong?
Sounds like: Eosinophilic inflammation of bowel. How many eosinophils in blood?. I recently found that this is due to faulty oxidation in brain (sounds strange?) because this kind of inflammation is guided by a reflex mechanism via the vagus nerve that runs from the brain to the bowel and known as the "inflammatory reflex" i advise seeking local help. ...Read more

Just had my third kid a 18 months ago and have had random stomach pains since. But now when i pee I have blood when i wipe and stomach pain. Cause?
10 yr old child has stomach pain - said it aches - from belly button upward not sure what to give him
There are many illnesses - some rare, some common - that can cause pain in this area for a child such as:
- gastresophageal reflux disease
- gastroenteritis (stomach flu)
- peptic ulcer disease
- gallbladder disease
- functional abdominal pain
and those are just a few of the things that could be causing it! without knowing more information and being able to examine your child, it's hard for me to be able to tell what's going on and how to direct you to treat him. The safest thing to do is to call his doctor. They may want to examine him or ask you a series of questions in order to figure out how serious his stomach pain is and what to do next. ...Read more

Heart Burn : Or acid reflux causing gerd. Gastroesophogeal reflux disease can lead to more serious complications. Even if its coming from your stomach, you need to find out the cause and treat it. Speak to your dr. You may need upper GI endoscopy-look into your throat and stomach or a barium swallow x-rayt. Treatment depends on whats found.. In the meantime, try raising the head of your bed and no late food. ...Read more
My daughter had a stomach ache during last holidays which lasted for 1 month. All tests were clear.Taking basket ball & swimmin coaching in the morning?
?Stress/anxiety?: You don't say how old your daughter is, but abdominal pain without an obvious physical reason can often reflect mental anguish. One of our mechanisms for dealing with anxiety is to convert it to physical symptoms. It might be helpful to have her see a child psychologist and talk this out. Good luck and hope she is better soon. ...Read more
My kid 14 girl hasn't had a bm 4 7 days and she's vomiting stomach pain gave her laxative not working ?
Is she constipated?: A teenage girl can tell a parent if she has had a hard time pooping. If yes, then she has been constipated, and does need a "clean out". If she has been pooping soft or loose poops, every 1/2 to 2 days, without problems, then she is unlikely to be holding on to a big amount of poop (meaning little will come out with laxatives). The dr. Can decide if an enema is needed (they are over-the-counter). ...Read more

My kid 12 year son can't make bowle and has stomach pain and fever and stool softener not helping
Clean-out needed: If you keep giving bulk laxatives without getting him cleaned out, he'll just cramp worse. Your pede or a pede GI may want a plain x-ray of his abdomen, then prescribe go-litely or enemas if he's too impacted. Once cleared, they'll have you give him MiraLAX (polyethylene glycol) for at least 6 months. Chronic constipation can lead to diverticulosis & diverticulitis in adulthood, so it'll be good to seek treatment now. ...Read more

Nausea: Pain, nausea and vomiting can be a chronic problem but you need to find the cause.
