Check up time: PCOS is associated with abdominal weight gain but sudden changes make me think about possible large ovarian cyst. It's best to see your MD for an exam to help figure out the cause.

If you have alcoholism, it is common to gain weight - alcohol has 8 calories per gram (about 120 per drink) and if you are drinking enough, you can take in 1000's of extra calories.
